THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wrong.

Only if it had ABS.

All 242 equipped XJs had non-disco axles however. Doesn't matter what year.

Ah that's what I was thinking of. My head hurts from writing a 20 page paper today. :rattle:
Has everyone seen the epic beard man? I highly recommend watching it for a laugh. And def watch the follow up interview.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh my senioritis has kicked in reallly hard now... 3 midterms 2 quizzes and a project all this week, but i really don't care much about any of them. that's what i get for graduating in may i suppose.

on another note, i finally heard back from schlumberger, the oilfield company i interviewed with 2 weeks ago and i did....... not get the job. damnit. that makes 3 trips across the country so far in the past 6 months for interviews i didn't get.

anyone know someone who's hiring mechanical engineers? :D

Just remember Kyle where you start today may not be where you end up in 15 years. Just ask Ice Cube.

damn... none of those are really entry level at all. it's pretty much all 5+ years experience required for just with a BS. closest one i'd be qualified for would be the "process engineer" at the Hadley location but it seems to be all six sigma stuff? it didn't say the required experience in that one though

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i saw a girl from my hometown at the bar tonight. she was and always has been one of a handfull of the people i know in my town who i like.... and i was with my girlfriend, her mother, and older brother... oh well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks again Anthony and Colin (and Travis for being the middle man) for the parts.
Sorry i couldnt meet up with you,Anthony.Stupid work.

no problem, glad you got em.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I understand there are different aspects that will help/hurt fuel economy with reagard to tires (and on top of fuel economy, will help/hurt street/trail performance). But for example my rig: as of this coming week I will have 4.88s and 33s. I doubt going to a 35 would really hurt my fuel economy, in fact I think it would probably help my economy.
Wrong.

Larger tires don't necessarily mean better gas mileage. With the larger tire you increase weight, rolling resistance, drag, etc. It takes more power to get a larger tire rolling, and keep it rolling. Then also braking comes into play, with more braking force required to stop the additional momentum of the larger tire. Also, if you're talking using larger tires on the same size rim, the tire will have more flex to it than a smaller tire. Good for wheeling, not for grip/handling/etc for on road use.

Just some basic explanations to think about...
Right.

Going from 32's to 33's kicked my Jeep in the balls more than I would have thought. Only in a freshman physics class where surfaces have no friction, mass moments of inertia are not included in calculations, and wind/air resistance are not factored in will larger tires help you in economy/handling/road manners/longevity of service parts.

You're dumb, I'm not listening to you.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Its actually only about 6-7 miles up the road from where i was. same road, just more north!!
ahh ok, get ahold of me sometime, I'll use it as an excuse to leave the office before 10pm :D

Might just be me, but both of those pictures look like somewhere I wouldn't mind being

X2.
Me: can't find 32s new for cheap, here are these 33 retreads for cheap... how different is it? *buys*
My Jeep: xxxx you, man, have fun getting anywhere without 3rd/4th/functioning transmission ..!..:D..!..

Going from stock tires to 30's wasn't bad for me. Going from 30s to 33's killed the performance but as I have said here and elsewhere before: I got GPS verified 18+ mpg. That was measured over multiple tanks of gas so it wasn't a one time lucky thing. The economy ranged between 17 at an absolute low to 22.5 I think for my high usually stayed around 18.5-19mpg). Note: I was on stock gearing, 3.07s.

As I have said before and seen on all those "mpg" and "fuel efficiency" threads, the 5-speed seems to make all the difference in fuel economy. I was on 3.07s with 33s and regularly got much better economy than my buddy in a stock XJ. He had an AW4. I'm not saying the transmission was the only factor in determining what fuel economy we got, but the fact that by far, most of the high fuel efficiency #s I have seen on here were achieved with the AX-15; everyone who complained about fuel economy was running an AW4. Just saying..

I am hoping that the 4.88s won't kill my fuel efficiency too much. When I would get 18-20mpg I would be driving at around 2700-2800 rpm. On the highway I would travel in the fast lane, 75-80mph usually, and just leave it in 4th gear. With 4.88s I will be able to use OD but if my guesstimations are right I should be traveling at about 65mph at 3000rpms in 5th. Not bad, but I would rather bring that to about 70mph at 2700rpms. Then again even just bringing it to 65 at 2700 would be fine. My XJ seemed to settle right in at 2700-2800 and loved sitting right there. When I pushed it up to 3000ish it didn't seem to be quite as happy. I will have to see how it is once I get driving it again now that it is going to be regeared... but those are my expectations.

Nice. 1/17 I beat that, never want to do that again... stayed awake for 24 hours straight, drove 500 miles, bought 1.5 engine hoists, cut an entire XJ into pieces, and dragged an engine, transmission, and transfer case hanging from a hoist through 20 feet of 3" deep mud in the rain with Skreed. Only realized I hadn't eaten at all about halfway home and practically inhaled a triple whopper at the first BK I saw after that.

... then I had to wake up 5 hours later and go to work...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I didn't mind the driving, I only minded that extra .5 of an engine hoist and the mud :roflmao: heck I'm almost certainly driving to rausch and back this weekend and I'm not even planning on wheeling.

Bring a lot of napkins, you're going to be drooling all over yourself.

Doubt it. I am well house trained :roflmao:
