THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yummy. have fun with that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1510 for me :D

Maybe to spite you for that I will leave at 1500 :eyes:

I would LOVE to go into work at 5AM and work my 8 hours then leave. The problem is that I am salaried so 8 hour days are not set in stone, plus I have to be around to help the customer out so getting in at 5 would be pointless (except for the fact that it would give me some catch up time before everyone else got in). but even if I got in early it's not like I would be able to leave early, so I just come in at 8 and work until the work is done.

On a plus side there are enough days that I come in at 8 and leave at 4 to make up for the days that I stay late. granted i work from home after leaving at 4, but oh well.

damn scott...

completely unrelated: does anyone have a spare np231 front output yoke that they want to sell?

..!..:D..!.. I wish I could get away with that but I have a meeting that ends at 4, and more work to do afterwards. Back when I had some motivation (up till around late June) I used to drag my ass in here at 6-7AM and leave by 3-4PM every day, might start doing that again soon.

If I find a way to :gee: one up into a doubler box I don't need, yes. Haven't really decided yet. I have 3 231s sitting in storage, one with a 21sp input shaft (goes with the 21sp AW4 I have), another out of a 96, and another out of a 98, I haven't really decided what I'm doing with them yet. If I was sure I could fab up the mounting ring that goes between the two boxes, and could find a way to make the shaft that goes between, the answer would be yes.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ken, you have to make 2 plates. a clocking ring and a plate to close off the back of the 231... and the shaft is a whole other ball game. if you're worried about making plates don't attempt to make the shaft. :P

that said, if you want to take an input yoke off and sell it to me, i would buy it :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What do you need the front output yoke for Anthony?

I think I have one laying around you could have for nothing. I just want to see you do this.

I think I have one laying around you could have for nothing. I just want to see you do this twice, because Travis really needs a doubler in the red Jeep when the front 60 gets alloys/flanges/ARB and when it's on 40s.

fixed it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I figured the shaft would be one of those "pay one of my mech eng friends a lot of beer to do this for me" things. I'm not good with a lathe, nor really with a welder...

Anyone know if the 98 and 96 torque converters were the same? I always figured they were the same, but when I ordered my rebuilt one from transtar, they needed to know what year the torque converter was for and what color codes were marked on the old one.

Hmmm...
98 trans + new torque converter + 98 np231 + SYE -> XJ
XJ trans (rebuilt) + 98 torque converter + XJ np231 -> MJ

Leaves me with a 21sp AW4, 21sp NP231, 2wd 91 AW4, 96 AW4 (needs rebuild), 96 NP231.

Do you care what year the front output yoke comes off of? I don't recall if they ever changed, I've always treated the transfer case with yoke as a single unit, and I'd rather tear into the 21sp stuff as I don't want to make finding parts for either of my jeeps more difficult. My local yards are running pretty thin on pre-91 junkers now.

can't bolt a double cardan joint to the stock D300 yokes. CJ's just had one u-joint at each end. i'll take the front output yoke from the case i'm getting from rob, but i need one more. they're a direct fit to the shafts of the D300.

Little does he know I have 2 output yokes and the front half of a 231 for when he makes one for me.

:D

you mooch.

ken: no it doesn't matter what year. IIRC they're all the same. if you pull it and count the splines, there should be 27... (the nut is a a 1 1/8)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so is that a yes i can have the yoke? :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

does naxja get a discount with BF? if so, someone pm me the code please...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I'll be using one for each rear brake, with separate lines to the front of the vehicle. I've got a harebrained scheme going (hint: it involves the ABS modulator in the last post I made.) Good idea on the NAPA site, I had forgotten that, I emailed Dorman asking them for an apps catalog but I don't really expect a response. I'll see if NAPA's catalog will tell me useful things.

aye. for some reason i was thinkin front because thats all i ever search for.

EDIT: Sam this site is awesome

i walk into napa and go

"gimme cherokee tranny lines"

they go "hokay thatll be $58"

and i leave with tranny lines

but amazon used to be all books or something, then people were like "lets sell anything we friggin want here" beware selling on amazon though, if a buyer complains to amazon they will refund the buyer even without hearing your side of the case and take money from the seller's account.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone of you buttmunches know what would cause one side of the engine to run lean/misfire? I'm thinking intake gasket but the plugs were seriously carbon fouled so I suspect the cat is plugged as well(excessive back pressure which carbon fouled the plugs). Although that should richen the fuel mixture, but perhaps not enough to combat the leanness caused by let's say a vacuum leak?

So i'm thinking something is up that's causing the passenger side of the engine run lean which caused misfires which inturn caused excess fuel to enter the cat and eventually killed the cat?

Sunday I'll test it for vacuum leaks and see where that takes me. BTW, this is on an E250 with a 4.6l.
