Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sorry, I'm going to keep the 231.

Billy, I'll bring the highsteer arms with me for the run.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wonder how much I'll get back... probably not much. Going to be pretty complicated this year too :(

Did not manage to find anything I needed at the junkyard, but found things I wanted... oops. Looks like the MJ is getting a nearly spotless replacement hood, and I found a bunch of the trim I'm going to need to put on it after I repaint it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just got back from my second interview with Schlumberger.
it seems like an pretty sweet job. yes a lot of hours but all the people are awesome, work hard / party hard type people. we visited a well and everything, and it definately seems like the type of atmosphere i'd like to work in. pay would be awesome, and even during the 6-8 months of training all housing, food, etc expenses are paid for and i'd still be getting a massive training bonus as well.
hopefully they'll offer me a job, and what would be really awesome would be if the put me in grand junction, CO, only around an hour from moab! :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh yeah i've only slept like 8 hours since wednesday night but i'm still champing along. all 14 of us they brought along for the interviews stayed up all night drinking and playing flip cup with the recruiters. how many job interviews can you do THAT? :D:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that is really badass. Intel has a strict "no having fun" policy, though officially it's "intel will not pay for alcoholic beverages"...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh and the recruiters were BLASTED from PF Chang's when they gave us the "exit interviews" pretty much asking us if we want the job / if so where we'd want to go

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bought a HF corded impact for $40 to hold me over until I can get the cordless dewalt and it's pretty sweet actually. Colin's cordless greatneck impact(which I think kicks ass) couldn't break lug nuts free and I just tried mine out and it can spin lugnuts off. It's still weak compared to a REAL impact but for $40 i'm damn happy.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bumper mounted, radiator pulled, going to solder it with Adam tomorrow then bolt on winch and run the wiring.

Hopefully ready to roll for Saturday. If Adam and I can't fix it tomorrow, I'm going to bring it to a radiator shop one day this week.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well it only took me about 20 minutes to swap the harmonic balancer on the green Jeep today, which is about a 400% improvement over the Blairwitch.

Harmonic balancer is done, ball joint sleeve is on, just need to put the hub and crap back together. The new 242 is hack&tapped and attached to the transmission, ready to have the nuts tightened. One plate is on for the bumper, need to get that attached tomorrow.

Going to hopefully pull the rear apart and get the disc brakes done. I'm happy I looked because the rear hardline is rusty right where it goes into the soft line. I don't want to have a repeat of the red jeep.

I need to move my axle forward, so I'm no longer bottoming the trackbar bracket out on the tie rod.

Colin, I'll measure those shafts tomorrow and give you a call.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just hauled way too much ass home from Marks. I dont think i went slower then triple dights, there was like maybe 5 cars on 495.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ok, so I'm sure some of you are bored and looking for something to research. :)

I'll give $5 and a coupon for a free BK Whopper to the person who can get me the fittings to do this with the shortest distance (limit ~$40 on parts):

Good luck with that. Hard enough finding a fitting that drops one size but your dropping 2. I'm guessing you have clearance issues. I went -8 M to -8F/-6F to -6M/5/16"Barb to get mine done but I dont have any restrictions. If you gotta keep it tight you could always use a 90* too.

Those drives are the best. One time that I was driving back from VA back in '08 I missed my exit in CT and the GPS told me that the 2nd quickest way was to just go up to the pike and go that way. I think i averaged about 100 from when I got onto I-90 until I got home... I was doing like 110 down the pike and 100 down 495. (my car is limited to 112.5.... i was just riding that most of the time on the pike)

I remember cruising down I90 which is a drive i have done MANY times... I also remember almost missing my exit because it was 3:30 AM and I was tired.... and I wasn't used to making it down the pike that fast and I was expecting teh drive to take longer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

UGHHHH

worked on jeep from 4pm-11pm friday
worked on jeep from 9am-11:30pm yesterday
went out last night

the only reason the jeep didnt leave the shop last night was because a tie rod end snapped as i was tightening the nut

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sam, that probably means it was time for a new one anyway

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, better now than on the road/trail right?

Bill - don't know about putting that together from COTS parts, but one of my friends from school has (or had, anyways, not sure if he still does) access to a CNC lathe and can probably make you one custom.
