THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ugh. Just got back from one of my girlfreind's girlfreind's house.
Ever offer to replace a battery in a car? Ya, find out what kinda car it is first.
She has a Chrysler 300M; long story short you have to remove the wheel, inner fender, and air filter assembly just to reach the battery.
2hours to swap the battery in the cold on an unplowed driveway with flashlights. :( If t'was my truck or my XJ, it would have been 10-15min.

that sucks. i jumped a guy not long ago that had a newer pontiac, and the battery was in the same place. thankfully it had leads extended to the engine bay.

Ya, this had those same leads. Unfortunately the battery was in a dead short (never same across one like this before) and when I tried to jump it there was a HUGE shower of sparks when I connected the last positive to the dead car. Scared me half to death as I was expecting a small little arc like you always get, nothing like that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm that's weird.

in other news, i got a job offer today..

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yah, most of the chryslers are like that like the sebring. The focus' battery is in the trunk near the spare, the caddies have 'em under the backseat, and the PT losers are under the airbox...totally awesome

If you have a girlfriend, and your girlfriend has a girlfriend, does the transitive property mean that your girlfriend's girlfriend is also your girlfriend?

Ya... you know how girls refer to other girls as their "girlfriend". Nothing more than that. :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

TNT long arms FTL...

Spent the evening at Baystate Offroad with Bob looking over my heep as to why I keep blowing the UCA bushings.

At full droop, there is so much bind between the suspension design and the trac bar pulling the axle to the drivers side, that the bushings just cant take it.

So these are my options...
1. Replace UCA bushings after every trail ride.
2. Cut and weld on another mount or insert and weld a sleeve into current mounts to run a different style bushing (RE small superride, Currie johnny joint, rockkrawler joint, etc). This will inevitably, in my mind, move the stress point to another rubber bushing (poly bushing on the other end of the UCA) and it will waste that as well.
3. Cut my losses and buy a Clayton LA kit. I can sell my TNT setup for about $500 (all bushings still good, and still have all hardware...only 3 months old)

Right now, if I stay part-time at my job while in class, I'm leaning towards 3. I want a solid suspension setup for when I upgrade axles/tires down the road. I thought I had that with the TNT setup, but I don't. I can't believe they charge $800 for a setup with poor geometry, and that practically requires you to buy their truss or some form of aftermarket mount/bushing for the axle end.

Leaf springs FTW!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I need to stop reading forums, or maybe read them more, IDK.
Now thanks to Colin (and maybe some others too), the front is changing again!
Haha... I've changed the way I'm going with this front so many times now...

That's what I'm here for...to be the guinea pig! lol.

TNT FTL. I'm debating on keeping my bellypan and just ponying up for the RK 3-link now.

In order to keep my TNT LCAs and do a custom third upper link, I think I'd have to go through the floor for decent vertical seperation at the frame end.

Sucks balls...

I think I might be able to squeeze my upper on top of the x-member I built.
Not sure that would work with the T&T belly pan though.

Honestly, you could probably build your own if you kept the TNT belly and the lowers. Then just built the third link and mounts for really cheap. Heck you could probably even modify one of the current uppers to work as that third link if you are really strapped for cash. Might want to check into that though, I'm not sure how those bent lowers might mess with things...

As for the floor, its just the passenger's side right? :D
I do know what you mean though.
