THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a friend who has Baja Claws on his Cherokee, the last two times he ran this trail, he ended up with a blown front driver tire sidewall both times.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was actaully playin around in the backyard the other day and was tryin to get some flex on a tree stump we had removed and put down back. slipped and caught a good chuck of wood right into my sidewall. i was aired down and surprised i didnt do any damage or at least blew the bead. after seeing how it handled that, made me only a bigger fan of how well these are workin out for me

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wish I could run them on Sunday...I guess i'll just have to use more skinny pedal with either the General Grabbers or the XTerrains. What does everyone think I should run on Sunday?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So, if the 4x4 light on the dash doesn't come on, its a vac canister problem right?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

are we talking about your red xj?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes.

It was quite cold on the way home today.

I'm thinking vac canister. 4x4 light doesn't go on in dash, cruise light doesn't either, but cruise does work. I noticed it didn't hold speed the greatest though, and was sluggish to take over. And, no damn heat.

TNT long arms FTL...

Spent the evening at Baystate Offroad with Bob looking over my heep as to why I keep blowing the UCA bushings.

At full droop, there is so much bind between the suspension design and the trac bar pulling the axle to the drivers side, that the bushings just cant take it.

So these are my options...
1. Replace UCA bushings after every trail ride.
2. Cut and weld on another mount or insert and weld a sleeve into current mounts to run a different style bushing (RE small superride, Currie johnny joint, rockkrawler joint, etc). This will inevitably, in my mind, move the stress point to another rubber bushing (poly bushing on the other end of the UCA) and it will waste that as well.
3. Cut my losses and buy a Clayton LA kit. I can sell my TNT setup for about $500 (all bushings still good, and still have all hardware...only 3 months old)

Right now, if I stay part-time at my job while in class, I'm leaning towards 3. I want a solid suspension setup for when I upgrade axles/tires down the road. I thought I had that with the TNT setup, but I don't. I can't believe they charge $800 for a setup with poor geometry, and that practically requires you to buy their truss or some form of aftermarket mount/bushing for the axle end.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is ther vacuum on the newer ones? I thought it was an electrical signal that is sent to the light. I know it was that way on my Renix XJ

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Little black ball behind the passenger side front bumper. The ARB bumper actually has new mounting points for the ball, except the damn hose is too short to mount it there properly.

I remember seeing a thread a while ago about someone relocating it, and painted it like a soccer ball.

Edit: didn't see you were talking about the 4x4 light. Not sure, I'm sure you're probably right. I don't care about the light much, as I know the 4 wheel drive actually works. I just want to be warm...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think it's time to chat!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

X2, but he sure was a nice guinea pig. Clayton's, here I come!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Home made LA's, here I come.

I might come at the pace of an old man without his walker, but I'm coming.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, why dont you run limiting straps to prevent it from binding?

That's about my only other option. I know my trac bar is biased a little to the driver's side right now, so I'm going to adjust it back and replace the UCA bushings again. I think I blew out a seal on one of my 5150s so I'm going to talk to Bob about some limiting straps as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i installed some aal's in the rear of my jeep since its got some good sag from the toy drive, i start tearing things apart and try to find my center pins, cant find em, so i went to the local parts store and picked up a new set, get home and put everything together, and when cleaning up i found the center pins on the floor of the garage, i figured that would happen, currently i got some cheapo ubolts in the rear, but my new RE's should be here tomorow and will be swapping those in, oh and the jeep sits 2.5" over stock out back
