THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ahh, good point I always forget the little guy is a young one. Well if you weren't always "busy", I'd say we should head out. :)

:roflmao: I don't even have the CCW yet and I still get invited to the Range over Mark!! awesomeness!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm pissed, I went to get my LTC-A in the spring... only to find out that the cert I had received had expired.

Long story short: I got my firearms safety course completed in March or or something around then 1 or 2 years ago, Figured I would get my LTC once I reached Sr. year of college and knew my financial situation and if I would even be living in this state, that december I found out I was moving to VA so it wasn't worth getting my LTC here in MA since I needed the money and it wouldn't help in VA. I then lost my job in VA, came back up here, cert was expired :flamemad:

Lucky though I know a local guy who does the firearms safety course. I will just go through a quick hour or 2 refresher with him, do the final review, and be out of there with a new cert :D... And that is if he doesn't get lazy. He may just check my old cert (to be sure I took a course a couple years ago) and issue a new one right away. Then again for all I know he will make me go through the whole course, but I doubt it.. he knows I have been shooting my whole life and has known me for years, plus he will see that I already have taken the course... so he will most likely expedite it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a LTC-A ALP.

 very good. so. when do you want to head to the range? and where do you shoot? I say we set up a day to go shooting for a couple hours, then work on your Jeep :) How's that sound for an awesome day??!

Sounds good to me. Private club and land. Hit me up back channel, I'd rather not post all that information up on an open forum.

awesome! Sounds good.

I've never shot a gun before in my life. (Unless paintball and BB guns count :D)

I always wanted to go to a range or something.

is that a hint? Maybe you ought to come (pending an OK from Mr. Bill) and I'll bring a .22 autoloader and a few hundred rounds for you to get addicted to the sport with :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin - me and some friends hit up The Firing Range once every few months, it gets expensive (about a hundred bucks a head per trip for 3 hours :() but it's all we can do right now. We've been trying different guns out each time to see which we like the most, in case we somehow manage to get FID/LTC at some point in the future. I'll let you know when the next event is if you want in.

I wish I could find a cheap fixer-upper house in a town within commuting range of work that is decently gun friendly (ha, in Mass?)... sadly, it seems to be a "pick two of three" sort of choice.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:D

That'd be cool. I know absolutely nothing about guns or the sport.

Muzzle downrange. remember that and we'll be fine ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you want to try shooting handguns but not get an LTC (and don't know anyone who can take you shooting), you can go to smith & wesson in Springfield, MA.

Costs something like 20-30$ range fee plus gun and ammo (which vary in price)... or maybe 20$ range fee includes a gun... I don't remember the details, been a couple years since I went. I'm sure they have a website. check it out.

A couple of friends and I used to go shooting somewhat frequently back in college when I was out in springfield. Had a couple of my friends up for a party one weekend (girls) and they were hesitant to go shooting at first but ended up LOVING it and asking to come back again all the time. We got something like 1 9mm, 1 .22 revolver, one .22 semi, and one .357 revolver and just swapped around between all the guns. My buddy and I would switch off between the 9mm and .357, the girls were on the .22s, but then the girls wanted to try the big guns (they did fine) but my buddy and I blew through a few mags in the .22.... the .22 is fun and cheap... that may be the 2nd (or 3rd) gun I buy :D

Good time though.

Thanks for the offer man, I may take you up on that in the future. That is kind of expensive though.

You mean I can't go Contra-style and unload on everything???

LAME.

Yeah sounds like a good time. I'd prefer to go with friends I know and have them teach me stuff. I don't like jumping into something and not having a clue about it.

Yeah, I fully agree... wish I could afford to do it more often, but I can't. My brother lives in Manchester though, he's offered to buy weapons for us if we want - NOT for taking to mass obviously, but just so we can use them at the range and stop getting reamed on ammo costs (you can only use their ammo if you rent their guns.) The plan would be that he would buy the guns, he would keep them at his place, they would legally be his, but we'd use them at the range. Assuming we ever got LTC or moved to NH we would then transfer ownership to ourselves. I've got my eye on a few, but house/more jeep parts are first on the list unfortunately...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I went to the Firing Line this past Saturday for an hour or so. Shared a lane with a friend of mine and brought guns (no renting). We bought one box of .40 and it cost us $55. However, we also had ~150 rounds of 9mm so that wasn't factored in our cost. It does get expensive fast there. Good to go there and try out different things via rentals, though, like Ken said.

Your options oughta narrow considerably once you weed out what isn't MA compliant on your Gun Wish List

STUPID STATE.:flamemad:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah. I don't really want to be living in MA in about five years though - I would absolutely love to end up in southern NH, somewhere in CO, or perhaps SD. If I could pick up a job in/around them I would also add northern NH or somewhere in VT to the list but hey, computer engineering / nerd jobs are few and far between in those areas.

My current list is really pretty short... so far I've been the most accurate with (strangely) a .22 and a .44mag revolver. I suck with a 9mm semi auto for some reason, might need to try that one again.

Colin, as I said, you will have to come with my dad and I.
I'm almost done with this semester, then I'll have some more free time. And no, what you listed does not count.

Holy hell is that expensive.

That is why we mainly shoot .22's. A box of 500 costs about the same as a box of 50 9mm.
