The "Hope I get it done by WF Oh-Ten" thread

This is the first time in years my rig isn't ready to go, have a lot of work to do:

Finish HDO frame stiffiners, pass side is nearly done
Change oil
Replace leaking trans cooler lines, have to pull bumper, winch, grille off to get to them
Replace IAC
Install HDO shackle relocation brackets if I have time.

Going to be staying up late this week to get as much done as I can. The frame stiffeners are taking forever to get them to work with the RE drop bracket braces and JCR skid plate, but all of the hard work is behind me.

It only goes up because you have more cars to begin with :D
I'm looking for a new car for DD this spring, really hoping I can ward of the wrenching bug.

But I've already looked, new exhaust 700, Turbo upgrade 2500+, Mud Flaps 50, etc. Gotta really try hard to keep the XJ as the only tinkering vehicle.

Let me guess WRX?

I had been wondering how you could get those to work with a skid like that or DPG's?

Sure, I may not drive the jeep everyday but I still enjoy playing in the dirt.

Don't blame you. I would love a new STI!

I wouldn't, not a fan of the hatch body. Sure pastrana and block did magical things with theirs. And with the money saved on not buying an STi over a Rex you can have a faster/better Rex. I like the older "Wagon" body though, the hatch is too round-ish for me. Supposedly the newer ones aren't as good as the previous gen tho. Idk, they are still cool.

Well my problem is for me is that they are all manuals. I'd have to get an EVO X to drive a similar car. I like the 05 WRX's the best.

Finally have the Jeep out of the garage, unfortunately I have major linkage issues with the 231 I still need to figure out, either that or shift it manually from under the vehicle (blah). And it sounds like it's going to fall apart when I'm driving it, but it's a lifted Jeep so I'm pretty sure that's normal.QUOTE]

this is what you need for the tcase shifting issue...i have installed this on two different jeeps (one my baby jeep, and one chaz's mj)...if you can afford it, its the answer!

Thanks mac, I had forgotten about the Novak shifter. I'm tired of dealing with it so I'll probably just get that kit. Maybe if I start doing stuff the right way it won't backfire on me so much. :gee:

Well, I finally got a new battery for the heep so it's running again finally. Now, to figure out a cheap fix to my overheating issues. Maybe get some thermal wrap for my fuel rail. And now to get the trailer re-registered again. At least I'm one step closer. Still broke, but at least it's running so I'll be there.

I'm glad I read that! You just reminded me that my registration is up on my trailer on the 28th... otherwise I'd be driving to WF on an expired plate.

i swapped a 231 in place of the 242 in the baby jeep...the linkage just wouldn't behave...not sure what the exact issue was but i got drunk and could reason with myself that novak shifter was worth the money...and i'm here to tell you, its worth it for sure!!!

funny you guys mention trailer plates...my car trailers are due at the end of feb...

Huh funny it sounds like we have the same purchasing method. That's how I ended up getting headers for my Tahoe.

How much are tags for the 34'? My 18' was only $50 or so.

I'm right there with the both of you. I'd be lyin if I said I never got drunk and made an impulse buy. I usually don't regret it.

The 8.8 is in and the MJ is back on its own feet, just need to mount rear shocks and bleed brakes. Do some maintance stuff to it and it should be ready to go. That is if nothing else comes up or goes wrong...lol

Yea 37s on a D30... you're easy on the gas, right? :D

There's a 44 for sale in the swap meet thread, better buy it before I decide to.

Eh, screw it Brendan, it's time to go D60/14b and you know it!

My jeep is sitting in pieces in the garage. As soon as I'm done typing it's back to work on it. The t-case is laying on the floor waiting to go back in. Either the input seal for the t-case or the output seal from the trans adapter was leaking. I am waiting for the t-case seal so I can put it back in.

In addition I put in a D44 front axle from a FS Ford, and ARB and hydro assist. In the rear I stole the ARB for the front and put a Detroit in it. The front DS is now too long and needs to be shortened.

When I pulled the t-case I cut the sheet metal from inside the Jeep to access the nuts for the cross member. I removed the old nuts and made a SS nut plate to replace them. That's waiting to be installed while I deal with the rust in there.

I also put in a York AC compressor that needs to be piped in.

I should be good by WF but it is no rest for the wicked right now!
