The "Hope I get it done by WF Oh-Ten" thread

Fill up the front diff, try and isolate the noise in the front end/tcase. I pulled the front driveshaft, so I should be able to narrow it down.

If the carrier bearings are hosed because someone locked the hubs without oil before I got it, I'm going to run it noisy and worry about it later.

Got the shackles moved to a better spot last weekend. Still working on bolting/welding the cage floorplates in.

Have to put my remote box in for the cb and get down to the local shop to have it tuned. I lost my cb antenna right off the mount somewhere on the way home from work, so I've got to swap the one from the '91 over.

The new air filter is still hanging from the stock hose on the throttle body, but I think some .040 safety wire will fix that right up :D

Maybe someday I'll get around to building a bracket for it.

Oh, and don't take apart your locking hubs if you don't know how to put them back together or you get to buy new ones because you're a dumbass.

And I officially own my new kaufman trailer courtesy of the federal gov'ts piggy bank program.

Between this week and next I'm going to finish wiring up my fog lamps, put in the stereo and put the dash back together. I think that's all I can really manage. I figured out my coolant issue, I think. Hot soak misfire is still there. Eff it. I'll let it all fall to pieces on the road down there on the 4th.

I just got back from taking the jeep to the shop. It sounds like it could be a pinion bearing issue. Not sure how expensive that will be to replace, but its certainly not something i want to mess with.

So when I get it back from the shop. I have to put on the rear rotors, re mount the rear brakeline. Bleed the lines. Find a magnet mount for my CB radio. Mount the fire extinguisher, and finally find the money to buy RedHeep's winch lol

Let me know when you get it back. I can come help and we can throw some skids on my jeep.

Still haven't gotten the jeep into the garage.:D This weekend it goes in and the list starts.

Install rear framerail brackets I had made to help with the hitch install.
Install rear hitch.
Drain both diffs and figure out why my lockright in the front was not engaging on the last trip.
Replace passenger side tierod and spacer on the steering.
Install new pitman arm.
Install new bushings on the trac bar.
Change the rear driveshaft.
Replace hatch as it won't open. Or not, very small possibility.
Change the oil and that is it, I think.

Just ordered my poly bushings from JCR. Pitman arm should be here in a day or two from RC. More stuff to order yet. My neighbors know somethings up. They see Jeeps in the driveway are moving around and the delivery people are here every other day. :D

Got my Blazer (aka tow rig) fixed

I finally got my diesets for the JD2 M3, however I need to fab up bracket to hold the ram to the JD2 M3 then I can start to bend stuff!!!

Anyone know where I should buy spicer 760 u-joint for the D30 and full circle snap rings for them? I have 2 set of shafts (one in the HEEP, other's spare)

I have had good luck with Carquest premium ujoints and get my snap rings from Ace hardware. you will need to grind your stock axles to fit the full circle clips.

Hmm, I will give them a shot. I like to buy stuff over the counter over online in most cases

QUESTION:

When trailering, do you air down?

And what do you do with your disconnects? connected or disconnected??? In the past I was always aired up and connected.
Just curious? what do you all do?

BOB

Swaybar hooked up and strapped down in 4lo. But now it doesn't disconnect anyways :D

For the trip out to moab, I aired the tires up after I strapped it down.

Straps through the knuckles in the front, crossed to the trailer, around the axle in the back, straight to the trailer. I have 18 inch tie down straps and 14k ratchet straps.

I usually always have the tires aired down, never had sway bars, and always strapped two in the front crossways and two in the back crossways and the jeep is in 4lo in park.

Pretty much the same here. 4lo, park, ebrake, swaybar depends on it's current location - if it's connected, leave it; if disconnected, leave it. Straps through the knuckles and crossed, rear over the axle b/w leaf and wheel crossed.

I have a broken shock mount in the rear! Looks like the welds on the BPE's in the rear didn't hold real well! Gonna try it again and if it wont work I'll just remove the shock for a little while.

Straps to axles. Aired up or down, whatever's convenient, I haven't noticed much of a difference. Sway bar is worth connecting if it's convenient, I could definitely tell the difference since I was pulling with a smaller truck (1/2 ton). Though I never had a sway bar on my XJ and it never caused any problems, but still I could tell.

Finished my NP231 swap a while back but never got the linkages done or the front driveshaft in. Ended up buying the shifter kit from Novak, and put in a temporary custom shift handle (this coming from the guy who had wood bumpers):

Haha, Wow!

I am going to add cutting brakes by wf.

There now I said it outloud so I have to do it right?

Done and I added a brace to the trac bar bracket to keep it from ripping from the frame during front digs.

now all I have to do is bleed the brakes and put a pound or two of air in the tires.

Started on the steering today along with draining the front diff. I go from a simple job to fully tearing down the front axle. Found some metal pieces.

Also found out I have to replace the motor mounts. Gonna be a long weekend in the garage.:thumbdn:
