More pics from the snow run.

This was a decent trip, but there were entirely too many rigs on the trail and sitting for an hour at a time was the norm. Great snow, though.

Great name, and a great dog. Rubi looks like my long-haired doxi. Good job on picking a Dachshund, Flex.

Thanks man, so far she is very laid back and not the least bit intimidated by my lab mix who weighs about 40 pounds. Rubi kinda fell into my lap. I randomly asked a friend if she knew where to find one and she did. Got her for free too! Those are some good looking dogs you got. I am pretty sure Rubi is gonna be longhaired as well.

You got Rubi for free? WTF? Way to go, man. We paid $400 each for these dogs, but they have been worth every cent. These two are sisters from the same litter and have completely different personalities, but they are both great.

Yeah, that's why I said to hell with it. Been thinking about getting a dog for a while, because Lucy is a spaz and needs a playmate. I knew I wanted a black and tan dachshund but short haired. Not a big deal though, my aunt is a dog groomer so that saves me some money. I remember how the nights suck though, she likes to sleep all day and play all night so sleep hasn't been the best for a few days. :D

At risk of this turning into the Dog Blog...ours were 6 weeks old and crate trained when we got them. Look into getting a crate or kennel because weiner dogs love to burrow and feel secure in a cage. 2.5 years later, they still sleep in their crate and seem to look forward to climbing in at night. It's always the same...the spotted one (Mojo) walks in first, then the long-haired one (Angel) follows behind.

Once you get past the house break stage, you are home free. Also, you should not have to do any special grooming for a long-haired doxie so there are no expenses other than regular shots, etc. My dogs are a tad low to the ground and may require a lift kit and some skids. Definately some Brown Dog motor mounts.

Haha, yeah Lucy is crate trained already so Rubi will be too. She has slept with me the past couple nights but its about time for her to sleep in her crate. Just don't want to hear her scream like a banshee quite yet.

Back to your regularly scheduled frog blog! :D

Hmmm....a doggy lift. Let's not go there.

I totally dig Brown Dog humor. :yelclap:

Oh, and by the way, good job on the 15-bolt Brown Dog engine mounts featured under New Products in Petersen's 4Wheel & Off Road, March 2011 edition, p. 77. I sincerely hope that brings you tons of business for the new year.

I saw the ad today while flying home from my business trip to Arizona. I got all weepy inside when I saw the photo of the mounts, then I remembered my Jeep waiting for me at the airport with its 4.0 I6 motor secured by its own set of Brown Dog mounts. Then I thought of Dog...mounts...and started laughing. The guy seated next to me looked at me with a concerned expression. He turned, stared blankly at the headrest in front of him, and ate his tiny bag of peanuts.

I'm doing a snow run to Uncle Tom's Cabin with some club members Saturday, Jan 22. We usually meet in Penryn at 8-8:30. I'll post up more details as the trip gets closer if anyone has interest.

Oh crap. My new year's rez was to not post so much on the FB. Failed already.

My kid and I have been playing with the idea of setting up a local off-road club and we decided to start a FaceBook group while the club is in its early stages. If anyone is interested, please join the site by visiting http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_192123244147885&ap=1.

Like this forum, we'd like to have members share pics, stories, parts, etc. We'll likely limit the wheeling trips to Northern Cal, but the more members, the better. What say, you?

Just asked to join,

Sweet. I'll look for your name when I get home. Facebook runs the risk of media overload, but we wanted something to serve as a collection point for off-road enthusiasts from all over, including local clubs, friends and neighbors, and forums like NAXJA. In a way, the Disconnects may prove to be ironic.

Since it is in the dead of winter and there is not a flipping thing going on, I thought I'd post up some Deer Valley pics from the past year. Sure, these are old pics but I was thinking about SF today and had this run on the mind.

Great pics. I want your tires.

Yeah, I've been watching your blog. You won't be disappointed.

Since I burn 70 miles a day, I imagine I'll be in the market for meats soon, despite the hunks gnarly o-rubber hanging on this set. When that happens, I'll likely go with 33x12.50's just to try something different. I might even be convinced to spend a little more $$ and swap to long arm and 35's, despite my previous rantings that I would never do that. Funny how changes happen....

Man, thats an awesome shot of the frog!

So my jeep will be sitting on jackstands here in about 6 hours. Swapping on OME 934 coils, OME CS034RA packs with AAL's OME shocks and an IRO trackbar. Hoping to get around 3.5" total out of that, so I can clear 33's with my trimmed fenders! Then, hopefully KM2's will be on the way soon. I am going with the 10.5's since i an keeping a low stance(less clearance issues). After Winterfest I'll be ordering gears and a carrier for the front and swapping in the 8.8 with a detroit! :D

Thanks, Flexd. I like that shot also and I look forward to wheeling that trail again this year. Your build plans sound good, and I'm personally glad you decided on the 10.5" KM2's. There is a world of difference between "Club 31" and "Club 33" and the more pizza-cuttin 10.50 followers there are, the better!

For clearance, you may notice my missing driver's side fender. Even with a new 5.5" lift and 10.50's, I occasionally pop the trim. Both sides ended up in the back of my Heep during that trip, so trim that beyotch.
