The Exercise Thread

As a one-man remodeling company, I get a variety of workouts. Building decks are the most strenuous, with digging piers, hauling and mixing concrete, and installing all that heavy treated framing and the composite decking that everyone wants these days.
Basements involve hauling everything down the stairs, and myself back up, sometimes 50 times or more a day. Last Thursday I stocked a basement with 150 2x4s of various lengths, and 100 sheets of drywall.
Of course, sometimes I'll spend half the day talking with customers about cabinet designs, which I'll then build in my homebrew equipped shop, so it's not all bad.

And now that it's nice out, I have several major home projects to finish, including 40 feet of brick paver driveway, a paver patio, and a waterfall.

I just wish I had the time to ride my mountain bike...

Hey John,

I've got a cieling fan here that's not working right...

I'll save a parking space for the PowerStroke.

I work for FedEx, so I get plenty or exercise five days a week. Then I mountain bike on the weekends and sometimes after work (like today).

Then this past weekend, I just got a free Bowflex machine. :)

I used to run 3-6 miles, but haven't done so in a long time. Thinking about taking it up again. I also want to try kayaking. I live next to the Newport Back Bay, which is a good place to kayak, run, or bike.

At the gym, I do cario, my physical therapy, and the various muscle groups, three days a week.

At work, I never take the lift, and our trailers are close to 1/4 mile away, so I walk enough during the day to burn up some calories.

I'm nice and happy at 6' and 215lbs. Been as high as 260 in HS, and 180 in the Army.

6' and 215#. Lets see...that was ca. 1980 to 1990. Fencing, JKA Shotokan, Aikido, some softball, touch football, soccer...worked out everyday at the gym. That was a long time and a lot of pounds ago. I'm just a big fat larda$$ now'days.

i can barely move after work!

$15,000 of trex; that's about 25 boards right. i havent installed it in a while but that stuff sure isn't cheap. anyway i'm just 19 and in my first year of college and definitely gained a bit eating crap and drinking like a sailor first semester(now i eat right but still drink like a sailor). i don't get much exercise in school but on each break and during the summer i will be doing contractor work, that gives me plenty

Another swishy poke!

I've been fencing for over 10 years now. Prefer epee, then foil, and maybe saber sometimes. Do a lot of period techniques as that is what my Master specializes in.

And BUZZBOMB, why only 50# bags....not strong enough for the 90#s?

Foil to keep the technique true. Epee in competition. Sabre for fun. Latest sword work was with the SCA using Musketeer blades. I want to get back to them and get into heavy fighting with long sword. Problem is, I gotta lose the weight before I put that kind of stress on my knee.

You, sir, are the Richard Simmons of NAXJA. :)
:kissyou:. I actually get plenty of exercise, just not a regular program. Mainly playing ball with the kids, walking the dogs & yard work. I'm 6'1" & 170lbs. so I'm doing something right. JIM.

Only a couple of tourneys. Dropped out when I got married. I want to get the boys involved. Last I heard they were starting youth boffer here and maybe even youth rapier.

Here is Ravensfort in Ansteora.

Havent played in awhile as mostof the people here are tools. I went to havefun, and now, too much politikin.

Yeah. People are people everywhere. I've only been monitoring the Ravensfort boards, but for a while they had to have a babysitter assigned to the barony by the crown instead of a baron/baroness to smooth over some personal issues. I see now though, that they do have a Baron and Baroness. So maybe things have settled down here.

No personna. Not currently registered.

Well other than the shop PT three times a week (usually consisting of some sort of 2-3mi run and some calisthenics) I do a max set of pullups daily (overhand, not that sissy underhand crap) and 200 crunches spread throughout the day (usually in teh morning and afternoon).

On the days I don't have shop PT I spar with some other guys for about an hour or so.

5'11", 410 lbs.

I work out about 15 times a day. I won't explain my workout, but suffice it to say that my right arm is about 10 times the size of my left...

I'm getting back on my bike, just put a new Terry brand seat, Blackburn 7 LED flashing taillight, and Performance Bike Shop brand underseat wedge on the bike and got myself some new riding gloves plus the bike seems to work fine as far as the way it rides, shifts, etc for a $250 Pacific that I bought at T"R"U for $95 in a crunched box 7 years ago. Now the rider on the hand could use some work........................
