Tech Inspectors Required

We need some volunteer Technical Inspectors (Safety Inspector) to verify vehicle compliance with 's bylaws (see below) regarding event participation.

Inspection will take place at the Slickrock Campground when the participant registers. This means that we will need a number of volunteers to share this role during the week first thing in the morning and in the evening.

If you are staying at Slickrock Campground that's an obvious advantage but we also need people that can be there early in the morning or in the evenings. If you have been a Tech Inspector in previous years or fancy helping out this year, please sign up in this thread.

I am aiming for six people to fill this role, with at least two staying at Slickrock Campground. Hopefully, there will be at least one inspector available on any day in the morning and evening.

Section 3: Required Equipment for Event Participation

1. VERY HIGHLY recommends that all event participants have a CB Radio.
2. requires all listed items to be present, and available for use, for a vehicle to be permitted to participate in a event. Participants are expected to stow equipment and all other items within their vehicle in a safe manner, conscious of the effects of OHV use and possible shifting of items.
3. Safety Inspectors will use this list for safety inspections prior to any event. The Safety Inspector has final say in approval or rejection of any vehicle for event participation and may at anytime defer to a second event or club officer for additional ruling.
4. expects each event participant to carry insurance and registration sufficient to meet the legal requirements of their vehicle state of residence and for the roads and trails traveled for the event. is not responsible for assuring an entrant's vehicle is legal for the roads and trails traveled in the event.

Equipment List

1. Visibly charged fire extinguisher (BC or ABC)
2. First aid kit
3. Adequate spare tire, jack and lug wrench
4. Safety belts for driver and any current passenger
5. Adequate attachment points in the front and rear of the vehicle:
   1. Acceptable forms of attachment points: (All Items must be mounted in a manner to provide adequate strength and integrity)
   2. Tow hooks of OEM or greater integrity
   3. D-Rings
   4. Shackle/Clevis
6. 20ft 10,000lb snatch strap without any metal hooks
7. Secured battery (no bungee cords)

I would not mind doing this. I will be staying at slickrock from the 6th to the 10th. This is my first event with , but what better way to start helping out. :spin1: I will still be able to get to the trails I want run on time, right?

I would not mind doing this. I will be staying at slickrock from the 6th to the 10th. This is my first event with , but what better way to start helping out. :spin1: I will still be able to get to the trails I want run on time, right?

Tech Inspections will not delay you from getting to the Staging Area for your trails. I will make sure that all of the trail leaders know to wait for event crew members in any case.

How strict is it to have a spare tire? I have abunch of plugs...

You need a spare. If your spare is full of plugs, but still holds air, it should be fine.

Edit: Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I wouldn't accept tire plugs in place of a spare. I'd hit up your local classifieds and try to find a cheap tire and wheel combo that would work as your spare.

A plug would not fix a busted bead or slashed sidewall, and someone might not have the same wheel and tire set up as you. Therefore a spare would be wise.

The saftey rules do require a spare as stated. Can't you borrow and bring one with you?

I personally think that requirement is important but should be flexible assuming one has the equipment to repair, reinflate, and if necessary reseat a bead on the trail. If you do not have that equipment/ability to do so then a spare would be a must IMHO.

A plug would not fix a slashed sidewall.

Depends. I cut a sidewalk in my fairly new Pro Comp Xterrains in 2001 or 2002 and put 4 or 5 plugs in the sidewall. I had to redo them a year later but I did wear those tires out. I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing that but in some cases it can get you off the trail.
