Team NAXJA/Petty Cash Racing stock class KOH XJ build

if you'd have arrived 10 minutes sooner, you'd have been helping me unload it and get it under the jeep :)

Why did no body tell me this? Thanks!

I don't know how many of you are following RallyVenture, but a couple of our friends and crew are out there competing right now.

The competition is based not just on course completion, but also social media interaction. If you have a minute, check them out! The more like's they get, the higher they score at the end of the event.

Team Woodgrain is our own Kris Tholke and the land use warrior Kurt Schneider.

And of course we can't forget our very good friend Ryan "Dirtstar" Kennelly, who among other things is responsible for all of the new Smittybilt XJ products. He's probably the XJ's biggest advocate in the aftermarket industry!

So apparently king of the hammers is coming, so its time to start doing this thing again.

As with any quality project, we started with thick cut applewood smoked bacon in a cast iron pan.

This was the thickest cut bacon I have ever had. Like 1/4" thick. Crazy.

You may remember mid summer our front locker was broken. I pulled it and took it apart, and found some broken bits. Called up Yukon and they sent me replacements, rebuilt it and put it back together.

Went on a test run and the locker was still broken, 3 feet off of the trailer. Did some 2wd running that day, and then ended up moving across state (again) a couple of days later, so had to park the car.

The mad scientist and I tore back into it a couple of weeks ago, and found a LOT more broken stuff. I guess I stopped when I found 'the problem' and should have kept going.

To be clear about this, the locker is broken from when we were t-boned at Glen Helen, and not from normal breakage. The passenger side shaft punched through the locker and all hell broke loose.

As usual, Yukon more than took care of us.

I got a box of parts in the mail last week. James and I set in rebuilding the locker this morning.

In almost order without narration.

These two bits here are apparently what make the locker work. They offer them in different tolerances to make the locker more or less aggressive. We went with the standard (least) aggressive configuration as this is for the front, and we never really had a problem with how it worked.

Enough test fitting, now on to assembly.

The all-thread assembly is just so it doesnt pop back open on us, we aren't using it to compress the parts (done by pushing by hand as we clock each piece).
