I can feel ya on a change from BV, but in reality I don't think Ouray is appealing to many on a large scale. I've been wanting to spend some time over there, but like many I know, not with a large group.

I think in reality it would almost be worth it to do more of a "long" group trail run if you will if people were interested in that (see Tom's post). Ouray just seems to be to far for many to drive for a "limited" variety of trails.

I'm dying to go out there...but it will probably be some random long weekend. I'm not trying to knock you at all, just looking at the reality of things when it comes to "the masses".

If there were enough lead time and planning, I think a COFest on the Western Slope would be doable. But, dates, times, who, what, where, when, etc. ALL need to be decently established EARLY in the year to give people a chance to put in for the time off at least 6 months ahead of time.

I have to disagree. I think you would be suprised just how many people would find that appealing. There were well over twice as many at the 11 CoFest as compared to 13 CoFest. I for one enjoy all aspects of offroading, not just the rock crawling. There is some rock crawling in the Silverton/Ouray area, poughkeepsie gulch is one that offers some and there are others. Not only that but if you want to put your Juggy to the test take it through Boulder Alley outside of Gunnison! Atleast we do agree on the fact that CoFest needs overhauling. The same thing year in and year out is getting old. The only thing that appeals to me right now are the people and the social aspect.....

I honestly don't see a problem with BV every year. Sure, I almost never go down there but I do hit the same trails over and over again. Unless you're willing to go out of state its eventually going to happen. I can't even begin to count how many times I've done Spring Creek or MSV/Coney. Unless we're going to start having COFest in Idaho I think we're bound to be repeating trails.

We chose BV most years since it has EVERYTHING from mild (dirt road), to wild (Carnage), to other fun stuff (St. Elmo and feeding chipmunks, Mt. Princeton hot springs, etc.).

It's also within a couple hours drive for most people.

I started the COFest 2016 thread in October of 2015.

Once again:

Where was everyone?
If people are so adamant about things, where are their nominations to be BOD?
It always comes down to 2 or 3 people planning the entire event...with no outside help.

If you think you're "mostest super busy person more than anyone else here!", you're kidding yourself.

None of us get paid to put this stuff on, nor do we have to bust our ass to make it happen.

Yet...people still b*tch, gripe, complain, want it changed in location or date, etc....

And still don't show up.

I never b*tched about where COFest was located, or dates, etc. I tried my best to make several and failed.

So yes, myself and others take offense at remarks and the condesending nature that comes from members like you.

If you think it's just myself that thinks this, you'd be far from wrong. It came up at this last COFest, and it wasn't me that started the discussion...

Old man had a meet and greet at his place last year... so events are held in Northern Colorado... We could just have it in Idaho Springs or Breck so everyone has to drive. Or how about Leadville. Highest elevation meet and greet in all of ever.

Please see above thread, it's by far not MY logic...it's the reason COFest has been held in BV so many times. So if anything, blame it on existing BOD as well as BV itself.

Correct, you did say that. The BOD hasn't really had a good track record with putting tasks on those outside of the BOD (past and present), which is both the fault of the BOD and member base.

Look, the only reason I am pissed at you is because you felt you had to point out some bullshit that really does not matter! I have always tried to make events because I like the people here with the exception of you currently! My life circumstances are just that mine not yours and you have no damn right criticizing for them! Shit happens and you feel the need to make a mountain out of a mole hill and I take offence to that fact alone! As a BOD member you should have better manors than that, starting shit with members here just because you feel the need to do so.... Seems best solution is BOD decides based off their availability to commit and make the event as good as possible for attendees.
And attendees, either like it and show. Or don't like it and don't show. And if they want it done differently, contribute as a member or vote for those who make decisions you agree with.
