Suspension Q's

Ok, I am am looking towards a Long Arm Susp. However, I do not know how high, what shocks, or anything else that I may need.
Question is this, can anyone tell me what all the components are and why they are needed. Besides the obvious (shocks). Hmm, guess I do not know a whole lot about suspension at all. :twak: Bring on the flames. Keep in mind I am still a newb.

Long Arm $2,500?
Lockers $1,000 used to put power to both the tires instead of one
Gears $300 used to restore the ratio from adding bigger tires
Shocks $300
Tires[35"] $800
Bumpers $600 used to mount the winch, also used as a recovery point[d-rings] OR you could get a set to tow hooks $75
Winch $1,000 Used to get you rig out of the the mess you got yourself into.
Prices are aprox. but yeah, you looking to drop that much into you Heep. Expectly for a newbiee. Dang. I wish I could drop that much into my piece. I say start small, 3.5" and get some experience under you belt and go from there.
p.s. I read in another thread you have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L HO, 2wd, 4dr. 2WD?!?!? Why do you wanna put a long arm suspension on a 2wd? Big waste.

I was told long arms for prerunning, which is what I am wanting to build. Also, you did not answer, my questiong about what the different parts do.
