how was holy cross?

Right now there are great deals at the ski areas for lodging. Get on the internet to find them. Try the big boys up here, Vail Resorts and Interwest(Copper Mountain). They both have large hotel operations that are empty. Even in late June there are deals to be found. arty:Holy Cross still has some snow around it but it should be clear soon. The rock heats up fast and melts the snow quick.

Go to www.hotels.com and type in the city you are interested in. The place I used was Silverthorne. Right now they have the rooms at around $65 listed but it will cover the surrounding area as well. I think I saw some rooms for $49 a night.

Also Leadville is a 30 min drive from Silverthorne, a 20 min drive to Holy Cross and its a great place if you are going to the Buena Vista area. Two nice hotels.

I see you are a Ham Radio operator, Are you thinking about Field day as well as wheeling?

What price range per night were you looking for? I normally stay in a nice place in Silverthorne for around $50 a night with pool and hot tub. That would save you an hours drive. With $2 a gallon gas, that could add $10 a day or more.

I settled on a place in Silverthorne for $200/wk... no internet line :-(
That should be central to most trails in the area.

Now to trail list planning and getting the Jeep PM done!
