Stupid stroker questions

Did he have to do anything to get it on? I'm assuming he's running the 99+ fuel rails and TB

Nope.

The only thing 99+ on mine is the intake itself.

The serp belt and PS pump setup is from a 96+.

I swapped all my '92 stuff onto that manifold. The fuel rail, throttle body, and injectors went right in without a problem. I have ~5k miles on the swap with no complaints.

Personally, but seat of the pants dyno, it doesn't improve the power as move as it lowers the torque band which is nice.

Caution on resurfacing the flywheel. The factory says you cant. The only reason is that the clutch pedal has no adjustment and will be closer to the floor due to the increased throw necessary for the amount of metal that is removed.

Personally, I went with a Howes racing master cylinder. I got a slightly bigger diameter than the stock and made a quick adjustable adapter from the rod on the old MC.

. I like a fairly high clutch pedal and a firm engagement.

There are a few companies that sell shims that allow you to machine the flywheel and be able to reuse it with the factory clutch setup.
Goodson is one of them.

I'm using a 94 7120 head and the 99+intake on my 96(Jan) XJ. Can't explain the one you found(unless newer motor was swapped in), but afaik, 96 was when they went to the 49psi pump, no return, 23.2# injectors, obd2, and NVH upgrades(29-spline 8.25" came mid year). Also, the flywheel in my 96 has been machined with no issues, but for $20 more, I could've bought a new one.

Alright got my 7120

Heres another question

Will any TB work on the 99 Intake?

All the TBs from 91+ XJ 4.0s should fit, and I believe TPS adaptation is the same for all. The only TBs that will not bolt to it would be 87-90 3-bolt Renix TBs.

How about a ford 5.0 TB has anyone used one?

I have never heard of this, but I suppose if you could make the bolts line up, make it seal, and get the TPS adapted to it, why not. Unless it bolts directly on, I don't see why you would want to do this. If stock is not large enough, there are many larger-bored units available for the 91+ 4.0(Hesco 62mm, 66mm, and 68mm / BBK62mm). The stock 60mm unit can even be easily modified by removing the restriction that exists on the bottom end, I did this with a Dremel. I think something made for the 4.0 would be most desirable in your case, as information about TPS adaptation, and even a professionally made adaptor exist.

Because I dont have 400$ to spend on a TB :)

I also created a new throttle stop to prevent the throttle blade from travelling beyond WOT, and created a stop to hold one end of the throttle shaft spring so that the appropriate tension

What did you need to create it :)

A nut that I JB Welded to the TB base (dead center of photo).

Another lump of JB Weld on the TB base.

Ahh cool JB weld... my kind of creating :) thanks for the info man and the pics

awesome website

I have read through all this and some others as well and still have question's regarding my particular combo of head, intake, etc.I have an 87' ,keeping Renix system,93' head, and 99' intake that came w/TB,fuel rail and injectors. Can the 99' fuel rail and injectors be adapted to the Renix system?,should I get the 93' rail & injectors and use that? Also, will closing off the EGR tube affect the Renix system?Any input would be greatly appreciated,my head gasket is taking a dump and this may have to happen soon.

EGR can be blocked but this will make your vehicle non smog legal depending on state.

the fuel rail for the 99+ will work on the renix but you have to modify them this was mentioned somewhere in this thread as well

I dont' have to worry about inspection's,I was more concerned about what effect's there might be to the Renix computer.I read about adapting the newer fuel return to the Renix, but the 99+ has no fuel return. Will injectors from any year,87' to 01',fit in the 99+ intake?

Yes they should but I believe in order to feed a stroker you need to use somthing bigger... #24 Ford 302 injectors is what Ive been reading
