I was never an officer, I apologize for using that term once. :D I did, however, enforce laws! I even wrote a couple of tickets and got to testify in court! Was at the same time you were riding your bicycle around the island with a 3lb ABC giving the neighbors a hard time for having a BBQ. :D:D:D

It wasn't a BBQ, it was a Ramsey Roast! Get it right

:kissyou:

yes, a comedy. Yes many errors.

I am human after all, and not as perfect as you must be.....

weigh the alternatives please....

1. Continue to work, make a decent living for the next 10 years, then go on disability one day because I can no longer walk. and the job I had didn't pay quite enough to allow retirement at 37.

2. Take a few semesters to get a degree, work a less physically straining job, pay more taxes into the system over a lifetime that will more than make up for what my medical expenses are for a year.

the job I had was very physically tasking, from climbing a 100' derrick 5 times in 2 hours, to crawling on expanded metal for 100 yds, to carrying 5 seperate 100# boxes up the equivalent of 3-4 flights of stairs, and I once calculated that on one job I climbed over 4000 steps in 8 hours. or driving 10 hours to do a 3 hour job then driving the 10 home. never being home, being on 24 hour call...even when you were on vacation. plus extensive electronics knowlege all for $30000 a year....... and no dental.

you're GAWDDAMNED right I wanted a career change, and if all I need is to be covered in case I become deathly ill during my time in school, I feel that if I am making the grade, then I should be entitled to that, every student should be, because none of them/us can afford health insurance!

I hear you on the need to make a change, as well as the desire. I just question why Taxpayers should pay for it.

Nothing personal. ;)

I agree that taxpayers should not have to pay for it....the main beef I have is the fact that my health insurance costs more per year than I would spend on 5 years worth of healthcare, if I were to break my collar bone every other year.

I very simply cannot afford it. I could barely afford it when I was working, and the job would pay 200 of the 650/month.

I absolutely hate asking the government to help, and the only way I can sell the idea to myself is to remind myself that other taxpayers, not just myself will benefit in the long run from me being a bum in the short term.

I'll be waiting for my check, then.

Frankly, I have less trouble with him being a student and wanting to be covered than with him going on PD, or just going on welfare - and we're paying for nothing.

I also think that welfare recipients should take a "pauper's oath" and should have to do some sort of public work for their public assistance - but that's just me.

Of course, I don't understand the trouble either - but I've eliminated half of it by being married to a woman with a decent job and good benefits. The rest I have to work out for myself (which is largely how Works in Progress got started...)

You say your insurance costs you way more than you would pay each year. So then you need the insurance for big ticket items only. Get a policy with a $2000 deductable. Then pay your own day to day bills.
