Alright-
Ya'll have known about Stay The Trail for years now.

We just completed the first season of our volunteer program, the Stay The Trail Ambassadors. We hope that you would like to get involved and help us promote responsible trail use.

Matt is our program coordinator. He has been with Stay The Trail for the past year and a half, coming from an ecology and 4x4 industry background. He is the guy coordinating and communicating with the BLM and Forest Service, planning projects, and teaching our volunteers.

Through the Ambassador program, enthusiasts have the opportunity to participate in sharing info about responsible trail use with other trail users and assist us with trail improvement events. Stay The Trail Ambassadors are encouraged to Ride, Educate, Monitor, and Maintain. Each aspect is something that volunteers can do anytime they hit the trails. We can go into detail about the importance of each in another post if there is interest. Bottom line is that everyone can help take action to help protect trails and natural resources anytime they hit the trail. You can keep an eye out for issues that need to be fixed or simply be prepared to share info about Stay The Trail.

This past year, our volunteers donated $65k worth of time assisting with trail work and monitoring/repairing trail conditions. Our trail stewardship projects covered over 200 miles of trails. 93 individual trail sites were evaluated, addressed, and improved. We will be blowing these numbers out of the water next year.

We train volunteers using online meetings. Attend one, 1.5 hour training session and you will be an Ambassador. We have several in the immediate future. You can check our Website Calendar or sign up by using the links:

Hey guys the links above dont list locations for the specific dates. Do you have/can you post the locations for the above listed dates?
Thanks

All our training sessions in the list above are held using a web conferencing website. Anyone that registers will be sent reminders and URL links for that specific session. Sorry for the confusion!

As it was my birthday yesterday and I just found out about this now, how do I become a part? I volunteer for several state parks, but it never gives me an excuse to go 4 wheeling and move some rocks and trees around.

Let me know please.

By the way, another thing we outdoorsy OHV trail using people should know.. Profits from REI fund campaigns to close OHV trails. Try to source your outdoor gear from elsewhere.

Visit the Stay The Trail Ambassadors webpage and view upcoming dates to sit in on the class. Free, good info, quick, and allows you to give back.

If I become a Trail Ambassador do I get to wear a Fez, exchange secret handshakes and grumble "harrumph!" with a group of like-minded fellas in some room in the cellar under a Deli somewhere?

:D

Big thanks to those who have been through the training!

To answer YallaHeep, we typical get together on a trail, shake our head at some damage, then pick up logs and get after it. No fez, but you do get some really cool stickers to slap on the rig.

The whole goal is to create a system of peer-to-peer educators helping be good examples. Also allows us to have up-to-date info about trail conditions for the land managers. If they can't fix something, we can.

Got my packet in the mail today! Lots of good fliers and brochures (now if only USPS would actually take care of packages  )

Got the truck and buggy marked, Ill get the jeep when it gets home later

Awesome! If you have a chance, we would love to have you post those pictures to our Facebook page. We have a little album of our volunteers showing off the stickers.
