Stabilizer bracket

why isn't the tie rod and drag link mounted above the knuckle? That seems awefully low...
That's the way Rock Krawler designed it. Believe me, here are the install pics from Rock Krawler:

The tie rod is plenty high enough IMO and it is OTK. Plus it's beef enough that I can ping it off as many rocks as I feel like without worry.

THERE IS NO STABILIZER IN THE INSTALL PICS!!!!!!

It seems obvious from all the questions you probably don't understand what you are doing. Take it back to the mechanic and have him put the stabilizer on for you.

And for further information, the comments about the "hammer lovin" were sarcasm. If you are going to put it on yourself, take it apart and slide the bracket over the end.

WTF? Does this look "not right" to anyone else? I was going to order the Rock Krawler kit, BUT, now this...This looks like a retarded design, I don't remember ever seeing it like this before. It looks like it would bind up for sure at droop, and maybe while turning? Please correct me if I am wrong, I have only had my Jeeps for a couple years, so I am still learning.

Well...that was uncalled for. So much for asking fellow XJ owners for thier opinion. You might notice that TEXT on a SCREEN has no voice inflection, and therefore a person reading it cannot pick up sarcasm. I have already mentioned that it drives just fine without the stabilizer. Since I already paid for it, I thought I might as well not waste the money and put it on. Glad to see there are still "internet tough guys" out there.

For the ones who actually posted insightful comments rather than flaming me, I thank you.

I hope you didn't think I was just trying to flame you, I wasn't just to me and what I found it's not nessercery, but yeah you paid for it so shit use it. Or sell it.

So your mad because you bought an overly priced POS system that you cant figure out how to get a bracket on !!!!!

Wow, clearly you are dense or just didn't read my reply to Jess. I was merely pointing out that the comment was unecessary. I could care less if I put the stabilizer on or not. I have been driving without it for a few weeks and I am used to it. I am perfectly happy with my steering kit that I had no problem paying for.

What I said was in no way uncalled for. You got several good answers on the first day of the thread. If you'll look back to the first page, I was one of them. I know text often has no voice inflection, however read it with some common sense. If your window doesn't roll down and you ask how to fix it and someone says "hit it with a hammer and your problem is solved", common sense says not to do that.
I understand you already paid for it and want to use it, but the first reply you got told you how to do so. Don't damage anything by trying to force the bracket on.

I have no problem with the question you asked, but you got good answers almost immediately. If you continue to ask questions common sense should answer, people are going to get impatient and sarcastic.

Exactly take a look at the very first couple of posts, your options include taking the steering apart and putting the bracket on or if you dont know how to do that then take it back. At that point you shouldnt have any further questions on the topic because there aren't anyother solutions.

Steering stabilizers are junk. Toss it, sell it frame it. Don't waste you time adding it on. Your Mech. left it off for a reason, not necessary.

You will appreciate the stabilizer shock, and yes they work!

If you don't want to do the obvious and take the steering end off then log onto the computer (assuming you can do that?) And buy Currie's bracket. Ther're simple enough even a monkey can install it.

I dont even know why you would spend extra money, this is not rocket science its about as easy as changing a flat tire or taking apart and putting back together a lego set.

There is another solution. He could always cut it in half and put on bar and then reweld it back together. That is what I would do. maybe add some triangulation too while he is welding it back together. some people just don't learn and want to do stuff the way is was supposed to happen like drop the steering and put it on.

:D That seems like way too much work for me, but to each his own.

i am amazed that you want your jeep to remain the stock feel when driving 70mph down the interstate....and yet you are running heim joints?!?....just doesnt make sense...IMHO i would rather have tie rod ends instead....

If you can't tell the inflection from the text, this is also sarcasm. Hasta

This is funny at this point. I haven't asked a single question since the first page of theis thread. On the second page, somone mentioned that the steering looked funny so I posted pics from the manufacturer showing that it was correct. I know I got good responses right away and thats cool. One of these days when I have time, I will fiddle around with the drag link at the pitman arm end and I will unbolt it and slide the bracket on. It's one stinkin bolt with a pin in it. How hard can that be? I have just never messed with any of that stuff before so I was wondering what other people would do. And yes, you are correct, I don't really know that much about mechanic work, because I have never had a vehicle I needed to work on before. I never had a chance to learn growing up so I am learning as I go with my XJ. Gotta learn sometime right? Up until this point, all I ever needed to know was how to change my breaks, oil, and tranny fluid and those are about stupid easy. My best teacher has been a Haynes manual, but they obviously don't cover anything custom. You ever watch Days of Thunder? Remember how Tom Cruise can drive the freakin wheels off a car, but he doesn't know the first thing about engines or how the car works? Yeah that's me. I can drive the crap outa anything, but if you point at something ask ask me to tell you what it is, I probably couldn't tell you. But I'm trying.

Arguing over the internet on a forum is kind of silly, so how about a truce on that. It was dumb for me to get bent out of shape over a simple comment so lets just leave it at that. My bad. I am on this forum to learn from others, not piss people off. We're all in the same Jeep family so lets just be cool. Believe me, I got plenty of information out of this thread and I appreciate it. :worship:
