...sorry...another build thread...

tranny mount is brand new. ground is as flat as my garage floor, which may not be 100% but I am sure its close. I was running cut up coils and bastard packs , I am sure it was all out of whack. The plan is to cut about a 1/4 ring off the pass side and re-measure. the nice thing about the current 3 link is, all I have to do is take off the tire and drop the axle down. Maybe unbolt a shock at worst. so swapping coils is super fast.

worked on some frame plating tonight, back by the front and rear shackle boxes on the pass side.

so plated the outer side of the box with 3/16 4" flat steel, then tied it together with some angle, and then bolted the angle through the floor. then took some scrap and welded it to some mount

just slapped some random bolts. it was all on impulse tonight.

front shackle:

have so much more to do.

going to grab some 3"x3" angle iron tomorrow and finish the rear plating on both sides, then use the 3x3 angle to tie in the C pillar mounts through the rear floor into the actual frame.

and need to plate the under side and the entire driver side rear.
I now plan on tiring the Halo into the gutters on the roof, as well as some struts from the B and C pillars to the cage as well.

I also plan on ditching my current rear bumper and trailer hitch to build and redesign something that ties into the frame rails and has a hitch built into the bumper itself to gain some clearance .

I have one of those racks. Good to know I can use it for something like that. Haha

Here's the platforms. I want to gusset them down to the frame too eventually.

At least now I can say the c pillars tie into the frame and not just the floor.

Jon we better go wheeling this summer. I have known you for over 2 years and we've never been wheeling
I think it's time for a con or Fordyce trip

Rubicon is a great idea . Fordyce too. And of course reno fest and Sierra fest !

I never seem to be able to make it to chapter events. reno fest, rig isn't done this year. sierra fest is on my birthday so I'm usually busy.
might just have to set up a separate trip. I already talked to kevin about wanting to go on a fordyce trip

ya thats fine. I really want to have purchased a readywelder before Fordyce.

I know you're the king of prepared, but we usually just bring some rod and jumper cables and connect a few batteries and weld that way. chad has fabricated a whole driveshaft out there like that lol. but that ready welder is tits if you can afford it

Ya I cant lol. I always have rod and cables and welding gloves and a small mask. that works for me. good call.

So I am planning on taking my spare renix head and having it magnafluxxed and a 3 or 5 angle valve job, then I plan on getting a port kit for like 50-80$, and the mopar purple cam kit with lifters , mopar performance head gasket, and some other odds and ends to try to help out with the 36s and on highway uphill pulls.

why not just go to a full stroker if you're gonna have a spare engine laying around? my buddy says he knows a machine shop who just did his subaru head, decked and ported and returned to him with all new rebuild parts for under $400.

decked and ported? thats good. I was thinking around 170$ for the valve job and magnafluxx and cleaning.

usually the porting is the expensive part, I wonder what they would charge for porting and such on mine?

Sorry, he got the head ported. Decking I believe is when you take a machinist level and see if the top of the block is flat. If it has gaps a Machine shop will shave it down a hair. I could get their number and you could just explain what you want done and see if they'll quote you. I hate engine jargon. Still so much to learn. But from what I've researched I think I definitely want to do a 4.6 for around $1800

I met a guy the other day with a 4.6 stroker.. he had all machined and built for 1900.
Didn't go too into details though

I wanna stroker!!
You guys down for slick rock in June??

Ya I am thinking Id love to build a stroker on the side. This motor I have now has been ran hard for the last 7 years by me and who knows how long by the PO. I figure a new cam, rebuild the head, port the head, and a new Harmonic balancer, high volume oil pump, and timing set , rear main, oil pan gasket while I have it apart should keep it going for a while and hopefully help pep it up a bit. I eventually plan to build a stroker on the side. 1900 would be perfect, but thats a tight budget since the parts and machine shop labor add up real quick. Id love to go 4.5 stroker, basically no boring of the block.

possibly. I am planning niagara rim trip and a hell hole for june as of right now so you can come on one or both of those. I normally do SR 2--3 times a year and we are doing it for sierra fest so I am in no hurry, although I might be down to run it at the end of May after reno pending my junk is all in one piece.

I'm down I'll send you a pm with my number and we can chat more in Reno
My weekends are always clear and I don't mind taking a Monday or Friday off

I wanted to take my bud on his first trail ride to SR so I figured that'd be a good start for open/open 3" on 32s
