honestly ill probably just brush off the flux mess real quick and hit it with some black spray paint. I have so many projects lined up right now.
So much more fender plating. I am still sitting around scratching my head trying to figure out how I am going to tie this all together without it looking like total dog crap.
put together dirtbound rear DIY bumper. build a tire carrier for said bumper. figure out what to do for the tire carrier(read tons of threads, but it will come down t what I have lying around since I don't like my current tire carrier setup so much)
install new steering box and pump for hydro when it gets here from AGR, get hydro dialed in.
build a driver side half door.
go to picknpull and grab a MJ tailgate to get ready for a rear tail gate hatch setup. more frame plating . fix rear bump stops . Ordered maxxima all in one rear tail lights, brake lights, etc and need to figure out how to wire them. Probably do that when I do the rear tail gate .
I think when all the plating is done and I've used a a few flap wheels on it and slapped some black paint on it then it will actually look halfway decent. It looked pretty crappy with faded bed liner and totally crushed in quarter panels and split open seams where the fender met up so almost anything is better than that. There is a good chance Ill only have time to do one side for the fenders before SF so it will be kinda goofy.
and I also worked on the rear pass side fender a bit. not done but so much closer. I am going to be chopping up the rear a bit more and doing some LED tail lights so I can make the tail gate work. That might not happen right away though.I still don't understand why jeep didnt just with a tail gate and hatch
once its all done ill probably take a little bondo here and there to smooth it out. it will probably come off pretty quick but you never know. I still haven't smashed my tail lights.
Ya I agree. Mostly in pics only. its nice to know I wont have 3" of tire smashing into the fenders and pulling open the pinch seam and all that jazz. well, the pass side at least.
Ya I've always liked the 4runner tail gates. I am stoked. I also love the giant Jeep logo in the back as well. I will probably put it off until I do the other fender.
Ill be grabbing 24 bolts today to bolt the plate to the body, and ill seal it it with RTV when I do that. The self tappers were just temporary to see if the crushed to hell quarter panels will start to suck in. I think the tail gate will be less work that the fenders though so who knows it may come before the other fender.
My original plan for the rear tube fenders was to be more "cosmetic" bolt on type of stuff, once I realized I needed to push the wheel well back 6-7" then I realized I might as well tie it into the cage inside, and it just grew from what seemed like a quick project to a big project that I still hurried more than I wanted just to get it done. I know what to do for the other side now so it will go much faster and ill be chopping up the other side even more and starting from scratch. I think that will faster than trying to tie into everything.
I have one of those hand held rivet guns and was going to use it but the gap was huge for the rivet to reach . Problem is I oculdnt really pound out the bent to hell quarter, well what was left of it, so I used self tappers to bring it in a bit. I plan to use 1" bolts and that way I tighten it up and bring in that gap.
AGR never sent a receipt, tracking, never notified me of the additional 3-4 weeks it would take when I ordered back in early June. So I called today to find out what was going on, for like the 6th time. Lady was rude and hung up when I asked her to send over the Specs for the fittings required. So I called again to cancel, they told me to email them in a cancellation. so I guess I just let AGR hold my money for 6+ weeks and I get nothing out of it buy crappy customer service.
So i got a hold of PSC after I was hung up on by AGR. They said they have 20 big bore hydro assist boxes on the shelf, these are brand new, not used, and big bore, not small bore, ready to go. If they don't ship within 24 hours then they will do an additional 10% off . And if I add a pump to the setup they will do the same 10% off the pump too. They have high output stock style pumps. you don't have to go with the other super gnarly pumps for 500$.
What a mess but the PSC stuff is legit. I am going to wait to order it once AGR refunds my money...
