Some stuff I made for my XJ (built thread)

:yelclap: Love seeing some good work go into a rig. I just got out of the garage after welding for like 3 hours on stuff my buddy and i were building for a turbo miata build were doing.

My ONLY concern would be that with the way the bumper is built any pulling is going to try to shear or stretch on your welds, do you understand what I'm saying??
I.E the bottom plate for the winch is out past the cross piece that ties the frame plates together. An off angle pull is going to be VERY hard on that joint.
Just my 2 cents.
Your welds and fab look awesome for a first time project though.

Nice to see first class fab skills. They are getting rare. My only comment and in don't take it in any way as a criticiszm, I would like to have seen the winch mounted a bit higher. Here in Colorado, approach angle is an issue.

Definately a quality build you can be proud of.

Now pressure wash that undercarrige and get some rust stop on it. ;-)

I agree here, about the bumper, particularly about the tow hooks, if I was building it I would have went with "D" rings for the clearance. I am pretty sure these things are going to take a beating. Jeep looks good.

Thanks all for the comments. This bumper started life as a hidden-behind-the-OEM- bumper winch mount. It is only when I did the cardboard mock-up on my workbench that it turned into a full bumper, this is why the winch seems low mounted, and yes, it is a bit, however I'll start with this bumper and if I need another one later, well I'll do another one. About the hooks indeed they are low, however they were free so I'll start with that and I'll probably switch to d-ring latter on.

The total cost was about 140$ IIRC.

For the hood pin, here is how I did it

Do you have more pics of the gas tank skid you made? I really like it. Do you have a temp or anything like that. Or a written out design of it? Ide really like to make one as well.

Hi all

Here are this week progress, mainly the TJ flares

Oh, I did the t-case drop, now it is vibration free !!

For the TJ flares, I choose to spend some time preparing. Here is a cardboard jig to locate all holes and shape of the flare

Be carefull while removing the OME flare attachment thing, they cut fingers easily (1/16th deep cut, it is almost healed now)

Et voila, more space !!

I sealed with silicone inside the fender

I forgot to take a pic of the finished side, anyway here is a trick to transfert all holes and notch on the opposite flare

Align the 2 flares together

Spray paint

Nice to see what you did.
One question, why don't you attact the corrosion on your jeep.?
If I looked at the pictures, I am shocked. :scared:

'92 XJ without any rust.

What corrosion ? LOLL Seriously, it is the most solid 01 here I'm sure of that. All you see is surface rust. Most of the cars aroud here rust beyond repair in 15 years. They put salt on our roads during winter.

I'll have it treated with oil for next winter
