Selarep, 5-90, and Rusty's
I'd like to pass on experiences to others for better or worse.

First, (this one's LONG overdue) earlier this summer I had stated some experiences I've had with Selarep. (which he wasn't pleased with, but truthful)
We chatted over the phone about issues, and I gave him another chance (call me,foolish?easy?) but he came through with flying colors.
I needed some wiring for a Grand Cherokee. These were needed on pretty short notice, I sent him the specs. and I recieved cabeling FAST!
I know there have been a few bad threads started about him, but wanted to post something good.
After all that has happened I am very pleased, he has more than made up for his oversights, and to me felt like avoidences.
Thanks Rick

As for 5-90, well what can I say, as usual everything on point.
I ordered 1awg wiring, and secondaries for my 77' Warn 8274 along with
along with some zinc military style battery clamps.
Thank you Jon

I helped a friend install 3"x1/4" angle steel stiffeners, Rusty's 5.5"LA, T/C swap&AA SYE installation, motor mount, and R.M.S. replacement on his ZJ.
First, Rusty's forgot to mention out of stock items not back from powdercoating and left out a few brackets. I had to clearance track bar mount in order to fit.
Also let him order a SYE kit for a 231 when he had a 242. ( I don't blame them too much for that.)
When I called in D/S measurement I still had front of Jeep on jackstands they advised me to get all springs mounted a full weight supported on them and call back.
I did 2 days later with same length needed, but guy never did anything with my measurements and order fell into the "round file".
After 2 wks. order was never made and deadlines were becoming tight. ZJ owner called in and had to re-give measurement and get express shipping might have been overnight but 2 day at minimum.
Rusty's offered a refund to place order closer to us but I wanted to keep the Tom Woods due to previous exp. with them.
Once they heard about all things gone wrong, and understood why I wanted to keep Wood's shaft they graciously picked up additional shipping charge to try to make things right.
As I understand this is not normal and wanted to post about Rusty's coming through for me.
Thanks Tony @ Rusty's Offroad

I want nothing to do with Selarep and feel the forum is a much better place when he is not a part of it. He purposely lied, cheated and stole from a number of good people here and when he was forgiven, he lied, cheated and stole again.

5-90 is a huge contributor of this forum and has provided a wealth of knowledge.

Rusty's has been around a long time. Even with the bad press on this site, they must be doing something right.

sugar coated
: to make superficially attractive or palatable

i run rustys rear leaves with 3 extra stock leaves. thats the only rustys stuff i have left from when i got the jeep it was all rustys.

pro's of rustys:
its cheaper than everyone out there, except maybe RC, so it helps people on low incomes buy new parts cheaper.
their coils and leaves seem ok.
ive never heard of an aftermarket xj leaf pack not sagging after 7-10 years of abuse, but these do ok. the coils were ok. control arms looked cheap and crappy.
i wouldnt really buy alot of his stuff new, but its great to buy used since you can normally get it used for almost nothing.

cons
as soon as you really start wheeling often(most weekends) you get rid of that stuff like a sinking ship, i dont trust their steering/trackbars at all, i had a rustys long arm off a part out jeep, it was ok, but too cheaply made for the price they sell it for.
the trackbar was scary looking. skinny, double shear, with a very small diameter tre on a 9" lift just scared me.

i think the general consensus is that selarep is no good?
just like in branding, when you build a brand name, an image , that is dishonesta nd cheating, that brand image can stay with you
