Snorkle be gone!

Yella man, said it before, say it again, got a great looking rig.

except those sliders. they just dont match. BUT, since im a nice guy, ill take them and store them for you. just give me a holler

Yeah, not a huge fan of the square tube but they're welded to the frame stiffeners so they're staying......

Aren't they the detours frame stiffener/slider?

No, I'm thinking Aaron said they were custom built by that guy with a shop in Commerce City - freakin' business name escapes me......

Yeah, CrawlerTech that's it. Aaron spent a TON of his money at CrawlerTech. Most of this rig is built by Josh there.

I didn't put the sliders on it - they were on it when I bought the XJ - pretty much like you see it now....... but yeah, I got a GREAT deal on the whole package...... :D

Ya you did, you got a steal on that rig. I sat on here and looked at it for days trying to think what I could do to buy it. Then he hands it to you. You must have some good mojo huh troy :moon:

Finally got around to putting on the new BOR 6" FlexE's......

Before: (6.5" between top of tires and lip on the Bushwhackers)

After: (10.5" rear, 9.25" front after turning the ACOS down 2.5") Holy crap this thing is tall now...... :D

I know, sucky night shot, but I worked on it until 9:30 tonight. I'll look into a better shot tomorrow in the daylight. So much lift, I had to re-drill the axle-end track bar mount 3/4" over...... JKS OAB, JKS sway bar link mounts and a front truss will be sooner than later now.....

I'm thinking these RE 5.5" rear springs musta sagged quite a bit. Here they are next to the BOR 6" packs:

P1012244.jpg

Took it for a 4 mile drive and the ride is so much better. Those RE's were too soft. The BOR's give a nice stable ride with no harshness at all. Rear sway bar is gone now too - didn't realize how much those RE's actually relied on the sway bar for stability.

I believe the rear shackles on it now are of the 2" non-boomerang version. I left 'em on for now to see if the shackle angle changed and how it changed between the RE and BOR packs. I will likely swap them out for a set of 1" JKS boomerangs once I get some measurements done - but my tired eyeballs tell me that the shackle angle is actually better now than with the RE's.....

Heh heh.......... well shit. I've been misinformed by the previous owner...... :banghead:

After looking at that pic of the leaf packs side-by-side..... I was having a REALLY hard time believing those RE packs were a 5.5" set. Did a little scrubbing to remove some old shipping sticker and whaddya know - they're marked "RE1463"........ 3.5" leaf packs........

So much for being told it was the 5.5" Extreme Duty kit......... But hey, we all know now that you CAN fit 35's on 3" of lift...... :laugh3:

I guess this means that those are actually a very nice, non-sagged set of RE leaf packs though......

Hmm I need either some shackles or new leaf springs.. I like the look of yours. Nice.

Ok, a better profile shot this afternoon: (Stink bug stance - ick.)

Good shackle angle, but those shackles are just too damn long......

So I swapped in a shorter set. Dropped the rear 1.25":

I friggin forgot to take a new profile pic with the new shackles, but here's a shot of the whole assembly. Yeah, I painted the anti-wrap leaf - wanted it to show easy when I point out what's different about BOR packs:

Then I spent most of the rest of the afternoon setting up the alignment and adjusting the sway bar discos to the new lift height and to keep 'em from binding on the steering.

Once it was aligned, took it for a cruise then stopped by the local strip mall for some flex shots: (forgot my camera - crappy phone pics)

The rear isn't stuffing like I'd like it to. The shackles have plenty of room to continue to move backward so I imagine once the leaf packs get some break in time, they'll allow the tire to stuff a bit better.

I've been driving around with about a 2.5" rake the past week with the new BOR 4" springs. I like the improved ride. I'm putting on the tnt y-link tomorrow along with some acos to level everything out. Hopefully I'll get some pics up tomorrow when it's all done.

So what kinda deal could you get my on some shackles there Troy ;)

Dang. SO how big is your lift?!

Should be at a true 6" - 7" of lift. The front coils are likely still 3.5" RE's, I'll have to check 'em for a part number. To do it right, I'll look into getting some 5.5" RE coils and turn the ACOS back up so they don't have such a large gap.

Ok, a bit better now. Sitting with just a slight rake now which is good should I load up gear/tools/spares. Shackle angle improved as well with the shorter shackles.

Before with the long shackles:

After with shorter "boomerang" shackles:

Long shackle angle:

Short shackle angle: (couldn't fit the t-square in there)
