I was just wondering how slick the rock gets there... Weather channel expects rain in moab next week!!

Should I have my tires siped??
How many trails are going to become unpassable with rain?

Flash floods are a bigger concern than the slipperyness of wet slickrock.....it's actually very grippy, like driving on 80 grit sandpaper.
If sand gets washed over the slickrock, it can be slippery where you cross a wash. There are trails that we may have to deviate from if the weather becomes an issue, but there will be plenty of alternate choices to fill in........and the bonus of a desert rainstorm.......there are some really cool waterfalls that appear out of nowhere as water spills off the mesa. AT tread tires work very well in Moab, MT's are good too, siping would help an MT grip slightly better, but I'd save your money.
Pray for sun, prepare for rain.

It ain't really slick!

when it gets a little rain then it has the traction of 40 grit sandpaper. Before a rain with tire rubber, dust etc. on it, it has the traction of 80 grit. the rain washes off the junk that makes it have more traction. Slick it ain't!

Slick in slick rock from steel horse shoes

The "slick" in Slick rock is from the steel horse shoes....not today's tires. Traction on slickrock is really not a big issue....rain or shine.

You should see the slopes you can ride up on a mtn bike if you have the legs for it!!

That class, is the end of today's lesson. You are dismissed.

Thanks for the info guys! I can't wait!
