dude you should go to the 'con.... buy some raffle tickets and win some stuff!! there are tacos and ice cream for sale along with a bunch of other stuff but there tacos are the shizzle!!!

I tried to persuade a group of non jeepers to camp at ice house so I could go to the con for a day trip. Well Bullards Bar fire is out and that's were they still want to go...

Have fun Jon.

Josh

PS that pitman puller is too small to fit around that arm :(

Ayy Jon I am going to need to come up and get that pitman arm there is a good chance that mid September I will be relocationg. I need to go to Rubicon express and pickup some new springs so make I trip for both.

it was fun as hell. the creek before the stairsteps was very high, a few weeks ago it was like maybe 12 inches. this time it was way higher. actually the third time we crossed through on sat night they must have let more water through since it was over my hood and my jeep died in the middle and the cab filled with water!
i cranked it over nonstop for 2 mins until it started again.
we ran the stairsteps twice up and down around 1am friday night just for fun. and a bunch on sat

sounds like you had fun. did the clicking ever come back?

be careful Jon....hydrolock that sucker and your wheelin the Runner ! hahah!

i didnt pull the plugs, should i have?
i drove it home the next day...and wheeled it for the rest of the day
i changed the oil/tranny/radiator fluids today.
drove it into the garage today.
damn i really wasnt thinking about hydrolock until now though...

wow i just read a ton of hydrolock threads!
man that can suck big time!
maybe cranking it over got water out ?
i really hope i didnt bend a rod, or crack the head!
oil was same level returning home as on the trip...it drove home just fine...

maybe she just choaked on a little...went down the wrong pipe lol

im hoping man,
i was not very smart for not pulling the plugs and just cranking it until i drive out.
how would it have driven up and downt he trail and 4.5 hours home if i hydrolocked it anyway?
i thought it would be totally f'ed up ?
maybe i just got water in the dizzy or a little in the intake or something like that?
its running great right now...

well the water in the top end will not compress like air would and can/will cause damage. Your engine can run on a bent rod for a while. I read threads of guys running their jeeps for a few months before failure.

If there was not any water in the oil I would not worry so much. The oil would have appeared milky and light brown, more on the white side. It would have been obvious.

also if you run a new quart through with the plug out you will notice the odd color tracing out with the nice new oil.

Josh

PS

anytime your engine stalls in water or starts to stall, I would shut it down and would not put the keys back in the ignition until the plugs were pulled.

yah ill pull plugs next time.
oil was exactly the same level as before the trip: at the full line.
also, i think i might have had too muich back pressure duw to water in the exhuast, along with water in the dizzy, maybe a little water in the intake, and maybe even stuff like battery and alternator.
i had a friend there who had been in a hydrolocked rig and he said im lucky, but i would have known by now if i loicked it up...

i hydrolocked my first xj, didn't know i did it at the time. my dad drove the thing for about a year or more before the rod knock got soo bad it wouldn't do more than 45mph

damn that sucks.
i really hope i didnt screw it up too bad.
seems ok for now, i guess only time will tell...

Hey you forgot to mention the dumbass you met in the red xj who broke his U joint and popped his ball joints on his first attempt going up the steps :banghead:

I did drive it all the way home after I got it back together. Scary right?

It was good meeting you, hopefully we'll meet again sometime.
