side by sides/UTV's

I don't know but most of the UTV's that come to KS Rocks are the sportier ones. I will admit they handle the park very well and will surprise you how nimble they are on muddy rocks. I've been hearing stories of the UTV's showing up some of the Jeepers. I would like to have one but just because it looks like a cool toy. To rich for my blood.

Parakeet

RZR's are retardedly fun. My cousin has an S model with the Fox shocks all around. Talk about soaking up the bumps!

My dad and I share one of these.

We have the loader bucket, snow blade, brush cutter, round bale fork, and forks, it also has a dump bed. My dad ordered it so it has no radio.
It is very fun to plow snow with!

Those are pretty dang cool.

FWIW, you can get a RZR that is street legal (they may all be) and I have also seen street legal Rhinos. I would love to have one to bomb around Redbird or the Badlands in.

Street legal Rhino

The legality probably does not apply to all states...

edit: what about one of these guys? mini truck

we actually had one of those mini trucks around for a while but they are not street legal and they are a royal bitch to get parts for, if you can even find them. Ours was a Hyundai and we could not find parts at all. The Mitsubishi ones seem to have a little better parts support. I have actually pondered anoter one of these in a Mitsubishi.

Doesn't Brian Shirley sell those?

I'll look when I get to a real computer.

He owns Brian Shirley trailer sales in Kansas.

mac 'beep beep 'gyvr

Truth is that they barely cover hdlf of a legal lane, so since it would not cover both lanes and cause people to bitch and moan I didn't care much for it…that and it has functioning lights, and we all know farmers can't have that! :D

Look used.

^^^this...they are spendy, but they are damn handy. a lot more agile than a 6 wheeler and they have a good load capacity. a buddy bought one with a winch on it for snow goose hunting in the spring. we used to carry a ton of 400-500 yards into a muddy spring corn field...it is a LIFE saver. they also use it around the farm to move stuff around places where its tricky to get a truck in and out of

I can see where these are the "New Farm Utility Vehicle", I just can't stand the price tags on ATVs or SideBys.

For the amount you will spend for a side by, you can get a nice Samurai, Sidekick/Tracker and have a dependable Off-Road/DD Vehicle which will not let you down.

The Sidekick/Tracker may look "Gay", but the 1.6L in front of the stock 5.13 axles is not. Put that on a set of wide 235's and 2" of lift an you can do most non-MI related trails at the Badlands.

The Sami is skinny, can do a SOA with almost no parts, and with a set of deep Xfer case gears, can crawl up most any hill without touching the gas, even with the wimpy 1.3L in the engine bay.

If you need to rebuild either engine, you lift it out and set it on the work bench as they weigh about as much as a 10hp iron Briggs ;)

Wranglers are fun too, just more machine :D

Trackers ride like crap, drive like crap and the transmissions suck. Not to mention they are slow as piss. I'd rather get a wrangler.

I know you don't have a lot of say in the matter, but for any underpowered vehicle a manual trans is where it's at. 5 gears over 3 in the auto makes a huge difference. Or maybe you just got a crap one. :dunno:

Tyler, I think if you wanted just another work vehicle around the farm you'd be looking at picking up another older Nissan pickup or some other compact truck. But you did say you're looking for something for work *and* play. Another XJ or a Wrangler would be cheaper, and pretty cool, and you'd have something you could play with... but you already have an XJ for play. I think if you tried to play in a stock XJ or YJ you'd just get pissed and go back and get your trail XJ.

A SxS might be a whole new kind of fun. Sure the new ones are expensive, and even the old ones are expensive, but that means if you keep it in decent shape and out of the weather it shouldn't depreciate much. So if you have it for 6 months or a year and decide it's not worth it, you can sell it without taking much of a hit.

I am pretty skilled at doing mental gymnastics to justify purchases, so if you need to convince yourself it's a good idea just let me know...

Just my $0.02... post up when you get it, I'll come out and we can play Evel Knievel with it. :D

Truth.

I'll fly out for that.

I am thinking about just buying a new one and then use it for a few years and play the "trade in/up" game....they retain a great resale value and I know it sounds kind of egotistical, but I just want one :D It will be nice to have around teh farms, but it will mainly be for pleasure and it is a good way that I can bring Case around with me as well. We take the ATV's to a few close by riding areas and this will be a good way that I can have room for both of us and Camille still has her ATV she can ride too. I have a couple of CD's that are not amking any money at all, so I may cash them out or borrow against them for a point over...better then 6-12% money from Yamaha financial or even 5% on my farm note....now to decide if I want a Yamaha or Polaris.....

id go with the polaris, but i also wouldn't rule out a mule...my buddy has a saki mule that is one of the big ones and they beat the SNOT out of it and it still works great. it was one of the originals so they have come a long ways with their development

well I am about to pull the trigger...we went and looked again at the Polaris Rangers and that is what I believe we are going to get. I am just going to go w/ a 500EFI Limited Edition instead of the big ol 800cc units. 3.9% money for 36 months and monthly payments wont be bad since I have over 1/2 of the purchase price for down money. I have gone back and forth on this for a while and I am just thinking "you only live once". It will also make a great rig for Sean and I to tool around WF in :D We will see what happens over the next week or two and I just may own one of these......

I need to regular model for farm and personal use, the RZR models are cool, but just not practical for us. One of the things that sold me on the Rangers over the Rhinos was that they have a bench seat and we can fit me, the wifey and the kiddo across it verses the buckets on the Rhino were not too inviting for a guy my size and it would only allow for one passenger comfortably. I know that a 500 wont be a speed demon, but I got rid of my "need for speed" when I use to have a 1987 Suzuki LT500 Quadzilla, it was bored .040 over, head was decked, piped, reeds, carbed...it was MF'n insane. I have no desire to put my body through that again. :D

Yup the RZR's would be pointless for any type of work
