Should I go ahead and get a 8.8?

I am running the 8.8 in my MJ. The only draw bask I have encountered is it does hang low in the rear, even on 35's. I also know 2 ppl who have busted the companion flanges on them, so pick up a spare or 2 to be on the safe side.

I busted a companion flange tonight. Got to love it ;)

Where is this "companion flange" and what does it do?

the 8.8 has a flange instead of a u-joint yoke like your current d35...

to mate your driveshaft to an 8.8 - you need one of these..

I would get an 8.8 open diff when ready to regear and put a lock rite in it. You will be able to get an 8.8 with 4.10 gears for the cost of setting up your 8.25. But it will have disc brakes, stronger axles, thicker larger tubes and more availability of parts.
