I've been looking for a 2500 4x4 Quad Cab for about six months now. Like Jes said, $32K/$33K is the norm around here on 07 2500's, 08's are a little more right now but not much. There are a few used 2006's and even a few 2007's, but they are running $30K-$32K. Doesn't make sense to me to get a used one at those prices.

We'll see what kind of deal they put together on the 3500 I'm looking at, it's a little overkill (well mucho overkill) but at least I can haul pretty much anything behind it.

No, the lifetime warranty only applies to the gas models. Diesels get the 5 year/100K warranty.

I had a dealer in AZ try to sell me a stripped down base model also. Didn't even have power windows and locks ! If you don't mind a short drive, check out Dave Smith Autos in Kellog ID. They make the best deals in the west.

Dave Smith is where I got my baseline price and got a semi-local dealer to beat it. I actually did the deal over the phone in two minutes then was in and out of the dealership in short order. Took them longer to detail the truck than to do the paper work.

You must have a good dealer. When I bought mine I had a friend who was a sales manager at a local dealer here. This was back when they were doing the Employe discounts.

I was told then that the dealers could not work with the price. It was set and the sales guys made a set amount on each vehicle they sold.

When I called Dave Smith, they gave me the same price plus knocked another 2K off that!

Oh and Clint...it isn't a short drive buddy, 800 miles from here almost.

I don't know that it is a "good dealer" but they were the ones willing to sell me a truck at what I thought was a fair price and they had three different colors to choose from with all the options I wanted.
Every other place I went didn't seem to want the sale, one was pushy with a price of $36+ and another was "willing" to get the truck I wanted for $38+. :sure:

They are pretty easy to work with.

Like Jes said about the dealer he dealt with. We handled all the paperwork over the phone and fax. Got to the dealer, spent maybe 20 min signing paperwork, a couple min in the shop and we were out of there. Super good people to deal with. They will even fly you in to Spokanne for free and shuttle you to the dealer.

HAHA I sold dodge trucks like jackson went thru little boys. Its funny what you could tell people to get them to buy a truck. One thing you guys need to realize is we have a set amount to sell these suckers at. Ya all dealers say this and that. But over all your gunna get screwed one way or another. Maybe the price or the warranty or the service of the truck. I hated fnkin customers over left and right. Chrysler training pretty much taught you that you should be able to sell your grandma anything. Id say with the 0 % deal is your best chance. P.S. The employee discount thing was a scam.

Couldn't have been that much of a scam.

I have a good friend who was the service manager of a local dealer. He couldn't get me any better deal when that was going on then he could have before and he has sold several of us trucks and basiclly invoice cost.

Also, the sticker on my truck was 42K I paid 32K and almost a year later when I thought of selling it the used trucks around here were going for about 32K. If it was such a bad deal I hardly think I would have been able to sell my truck used for the same price I paid for it.

Set aside its a truck.

The auto tranny does poorly on gas for highway towing or driving.
Also the 6 speed sucks on the highway aswell.

The story:
6 speed is super bad ass. My grandpa has a '06 2500 Mega Cab cummis six speed every fancy gadget edition. And it is one hell of a toy and does great in the city. 21 MPG. Highway is about 16 MPG. The inverse of out 4.0L. The truth is Dodge needs a 7 speed transmission and the cummins would rule over all truck companies. Id say with a 7 speed 21 city and 25 hwy.

My aunt and uncle have a '06 2500 mega cab cummins auto every fancy gadget edition. And they cant stand it being auto. It still has its power but gas milage is 19 city and 15 hwy. Not exactly their daily driver. But it does good on the farm aswell as my gramps. Being why they got them at the same time also probally for a good discount.

Id say buy a 2500 cummins and itll treat you well. But when dodge makes a strong 7 speed for that massive engine it will be the towers choice of trucks.

It locks the Tq converter in each gear, going up hill or down, has an auto-stick feature so you can stick it in a gear and it will hold there and its the only tranny you can get that comes with a factory engine brake.

If you read on the diesel forums, the guys towing with them love them and tons are starting to switch from manual 6 speeds to the new auto because of its amazing towing ability.

It also has a higher HP rating then the manual does.

Hey I said Engine brake.

They actually don't use a Jake brake. A Jake brake uses the valves of the motor to close make back pressure. An exhaust brake just closes off the exhaust.

When I bought my '05 crew cab,3500,dually,Cummins, 6 speed, I checked all the way from Houston Tx. to Vancouver Wa. Dave Smith motors can be beat fairly easily. I ended up buying right near here in Caldwell, Id. at Curt & Hal motors. They beat everyone. I gave 31k out the door. And as far as the fuel mileage, I get 16/17 in town and 18/21 on the highway. If I can keep it at 74mph it does well. You go 75 or over and mileage falls like a rock. And this thing is a beast. I thought my old '96 2500 Cummins/auto was a brute but, this thing pulls a 21,000 bachoe and trailer easy. I did put and exaust brake, cold air intake and straight pipe the muffler for a little added help. I haven't chipped it yet but, I may.
