We (CJ Mike and I) just spent 2 Saturdays (as well as 42 other jeep People) With John and Barbara Arenz from the FOTR who conducted a Ham Radio training course, we both are now licensed with the FCC and each have Ham Radios (lots of Study required) now looking forward to using this

thanks for posting this. this is motivation for me to get up there and finally take that class. I also like the flare idea as well, ill have to order some, and once I finish the class, I should be good to go. I still want to do a calstr membership as well.

If you have an android phone, there's an app that is called "Ham Radio Study", IIRC. Or something along those lines. I use it periodically, when I think about it and have time.
There are also classes you can take for a fee and a test.

has true practice exam's on LH side 1/2 way down - under exams - technician license

to communicate in / out of Rubicon you need a dual VHF/UHF radio - they recommended a - Yaesu FT60 it is @ $150.00

stay away from the cheep units they start breaking down a very short time

Nice. I've had my amateur license a couple years now, call sign is KK6AWJ. Nice to be able to communicate in an emergency.

Congrats on the Ham Licenses. The test is not too hard if you go thru the practice tests and have some basic fundementals. I have had my license for a year but have had radio for 2 years. It is nice to have for peace of mind when you know you can reach someone via the air waves. More Naxja Members need them! Everybody get studying! KK6ONF out

It was definitely a great class, good experience, and learned a lot!! I must admit too, my Dad did beat me by 1 point on the exam.. after some time, I may have to suggest a friendly father-son challenge for the next level of HAM license after some more studying aperwork
