rustys vs. tomkens 6in. lift kit

Most everybody here is going to tell you to get the RE 5.5 lift with drop brackets or long-arm if it has come out. Some others will say to get Clayton's long-arms for the front. I've never used any of them. Now everybody else chime in with the predictable dialogue. Try the search button too.

Well XJ92 bought up the first questions.Which kits are you refering to.They both have short arm kits,Rusty has a Long Arm,and I believe Tomken's other kit is either hybrid or mid arm!

I would definetely check out the Full Traction 6inch long arm lift kit as well. Looks way burly and is a complete bolt on. jdsoffroad.com has it listed for $1527.23 + shipping. :)

yeah i know there are a lot nicer kits out there, but that was close to being in the price range and i wanted a 6in. kit. but after talking to people i think il go with a 4.5 kit considering i could always do spacers/shackles:D

I'll be up grading my RE short arm to a Full-Traction Long arm. I will be keeping the RE coils though, I just want the long arms from full traction because they do not do "radius" arms, its a upper and lower long arms, defently kick ass!

i believe the tomken kit is alright if 6 in is all you want. try to add anything and youll need adj. uppers and long lowers or drop bracket. tomkens kit was missing a rear break line and a drop pitman arm. otherwise good burly stuff with johny joints all over the place for good movement. the spring packs are nice too.

What do you want to do? If you want to buy a 6" lift and in a year or so have to add stuff, fix stuff and try and get it back to 6"....well, buy Rusty's. If you want to do it right the first time, RE or FT. I started with a Crusty's 3" with full packs. I loved the ride...I'll give them that but it's not a "full" kit and they cut too many corners, even on the 6" kit. I'm happy with my RE stuff. That's my $.02.
