I just picked up a 10/22 and was wondering where I could get more clips for it that are not way expensive. Are the clips these day all plastic?

I have a couple, in both 10 and 25 rounds. The 10s seem to be made better then the 25 round ones. They are clear with red internals and they seem to work a lot better. The 25 round ones are all clear and tend to jam a lot if they are not placed right. Sorry, I don tknow the names of them. From what I saw, you get what you pay for.
And if you do find any metal ones, let us all know, as Id be interested in some too.

The Ruger 10rds are the best. The higher capacity ones tend to jam, but nothing to lose sleep over. If you have a gun and knife show in your area, you can pick them up fairly cheap.

p.s. The 10/22 was one of the best guns I ever had. Reliable and fun to shoot. I miss mine.

just picked up mine the other week, lightly used with 2 10 round and 2 25 round clips, good rifle, mine looks like a mini ak47 with the all black 25 round clip. its a pellet gun on steriods. i dont know where you are located but near me there is a gat guns store that carries every part ever made for that gun, very very fun to shoot, cant wait for varmint season

Which model did you get? I purchased a R10/22 Target model 4 years back and it's been the best little rifle I've ever owned.

No idea, it was in one of the local pawn shops and was cheap. Seems like guns arround here are gold to there owners. How do I tell about what I got.

They've got a few flavors of 10-22, the 'plain vanilla' (like I have) has a oil-finished birch stock and matte-blue metal. Then they step up to stainless steel & laminated wood stocks, probably also synthetic stocks now, they had an odd-ball "international" version where the stock forend extends to the muzzle... and that target model that likely has a differnt stock and a heavy barrel.

I hot-rodded mine with a heavy/match barrel, Hogue stock, trigger springs/shims/polishing, and a 6x24 scope. It's pretty fun with the favorite ammo...but not nearly as reliable feeding & ejecting as it was with the factory barrel (looser chamber) but the no-shit 1.5" 100 yard groups are satisfying.

It has a wooden stock. I dropped by the local sproting goods shop and they had a 40th anv mag so I got that.

I just bought some 20 rounds clips for mine at a local pawn shop. Any gun shop should carry them or be able to order you some. They are pretty inexpensive.

There are a lot of upgrades and parts for the 10/22 out there btw.

TY guys that is what I was looking for places that you use. We have one gun shop in our small town. The wally world sucks here too!

the only thing i can say is if you are going to get some more clips get ones that have steel lips not plastic.the plastic ones wear down causing the jam problem.the steel ones just keep going

Match yours up to the features on their website. I'm curious as to what model you ended up now. Lemme know what it turns out to be! You might have gotten a sweet deal.
Went and looked at the serial number 111-20402.

Beginning Serial Number: Years of Production:
111-16200 1972

I then called them and they said it was shipped in January of 1972 and is a 10/22R

I am new here, and quite old, but wish to express my thoughts on the 10/22 Rugar rifle. Being a gun collector, I have six 10/22's, two with very expensive target barrels, which can, and has lite a farmer match at 60 yards, ofcorse with a very great scope and braced mount sighting. The 10/22 is one very great rifle, and no mater how old it gets, it never wears out. My oldest nearly 20 years old, is as good as the fairly new one all fixed up for target shooting. As for clips, well, plastic ones are not the answer. I use a 10 or 25 shot medal clip, and have never had a jam up yet. Jams are mainly caused by cheap 22 shells, they vary in powder from time to time, and the slugs are never quite always the same. I prefer and use ONLY CC Mini Mags, 50 shots in a clear yellow box. Take it from an old man, the Rugar 10/22 is one of the finest rifles made for target shooting, hunting small game, or plunking around. The only other 22 I would advise or have suggestions about would be a Gold Line Henry, 22 Long rifle or 22 Mag. Dixie Sage
