Re: Rubicon Run July 11-13

Anybody going up Father's day weekend (June 13-15)? I'll be up there with family and friends.

I'll be the white cherokee with horns on the hood. We'll have about 4-6 jeeps in our group.

That weekend is the HiLanders' Poker Run that goes in from Loon Lake, goes to Ellis Creek, then back through Wentworth Springs.

I will also be there Friday, June 20th. Going in with two other rigs.

anyone going to the con on the 4th of july?

Sorry its so late, but here is a link to pics from out trip. The trail still had so nice mud sections especially between big sluice and rubicon springs. the creek on cadillac hill that was reported the week before I went was down to a trickle. I expect the water to start to dry significantly each week. Big Sluice was pretty narly, but what do you expect?

We all drove our jeeps out, which were by far the smallest on the trail. My brother broke his rear trackbar mount on this grand, so all you ZJ guys keep that in mind and look into getting a beefier weld. With about a 7 inch longer wheel base than a cherokee he had to take some different lines, and ended up nearly ripping off his crossmember than t-case cover, which is now high clearance. I have to say for my first trip down the rubicon, it was awesome, though the off camber drop offs on the granite slabs had me sketched out. I aired down to 12 with my 32 inch BFG MT's and after nearly breaking my bead a few times, 3 of my tires were down to the 6-8 PSI range, by the time we reached rubicon springs. Luckily someone in our group had a portable air compressor. Also One of my buddies ran with no doors, and ended up with 5-6 inches of water in his jeep. Like I said before though. I would expect the trail to dry at a fairly rapid rate from here on out.
