Rubicon in June

Im still planning on going. Trying to convince a friend to come as well. Im out of school the week before, so I can go up whenever. How long does it take to get up there from the bay area?
And how long would it be? Leave Sunday afternoon?

I guess I also need to renew my mebership too.

As of right now, it looks like I wont even hit the trail until 9 or 10 friday night. I may have to BEG one of you to drive down to the trail head to get me to camp.

I am hoping I can get that friday off, but who knows with my employer.

Phil, are we planning on hanging out saturday? Or is it a wheeling day? I presume you will go half way or something friday, then the rest sunday? Since I have never run the con', me showing up late friday may not be smart, but what can you do...

Now that they've blown Gatekeeper, there's nothing extremely challenging until after Ellis Creek (about an hour in). The hardest part is knowing which way to go once you reach the Granite Bowl. If you've never run the trail, you could get lost really easy, especially at night.

If it works out for me, I'll be heading in on Friday night as well (I've run the trail a few times at night).

Good advice. My first time was during the day, by myself, and I got lost big time, luckily someone was around for me to follow up the bowl and find the trail. We won't talk about how it took me over 30 mins just to find gatekeeper. :(

the time looks good for me too. might need to leave early on sun though.

matt if i can't get fri off all float in with you.... but if i can party at phil's sounds good.

Im planning on working thursday in Ventura, drivng up thursday night, sleeping somewhere, leaving early from somewhere with my sister, and meeting at 10:30am Friday

So far the plan is I'll be leaving Hume Lake Camp (east of Fresno about 1.2 hrs) Friday sometime. I'll stop to camp Friday night when I run into a bunch of XJ's.

i would love to go but since the wife is due in July, I'm being grounded to give her support. :rattle:

:tears:

As of this moment, BenH and I will be leaving friday at either noon or 5. We are hoping that with GPS cordinates and our topo maps that we can find camp. If not, oh well.

It looks like we will probably be starting the trail at 11pm friday night. I know that niether of us will be playin, and probably just blow through the first part.

For the Con' veterans, can you show me pictures of the spots i need to look out for and possible bypasses?? We both want to get to camp ASAP.
