anyone else have issues with squeaks on the adjustable control arms. I just got a set of uppers today and will be installing them next sunday. I certainly don't want to crawl under and grease them every Monday. Any other cures?

i run EIGHT rough country adjustable control arms on my wifes TJ, and haven't had any problems with them. i grease them every oil change, but i also like to go overboard and use an entire tube of grease on them. i have a air grease gun that i hook up and just fill with grease until i have clean fresh colored grease coming out.

I have adj. uppers and adj. lowers on my 99 cherokee. I used a whole tube of greese on them when I first installed them. When I regrease the I just make sure they are packed full until the grease comes out of the opening. I have not had one sqeak or noise:D

I got a question. Im 17 and have an 89 xj wagoneer limited. I want to lift it 3" and have no previous experience and limited tools. Ive been looking at the rough country three inch lift with aal springs, but my rear springs are flat and bend up a little bit so i was considering new leaf packs. But i have also been looking at the budget boost with f150 coils and an s-10 bastard pack. Which would be the best way to go? Any help would be appreciated.

Just my $.02 M0n3ym1k3y, I did the math and buying the 3" kit from RC was about the same price as a budget boost with extra XJ leafs. You have to remember that if you put together your own kit you will need longer shocks, new U-bolts, new leaf center pins, etc, plus you will be spending a LOT of time and work at the junkyard looking for and pulling parts. For my money, I bought the 3" RC AAL kit, I have been VERY happy with it, and I didn't have to waste multiple weekends at the JY. If you are worried that the AAL won't lift your rear up enough, you can put the AAL in, and THEN worry about adding extra XJ leafs.

Grimus, after reading the testimonials of these guys with quiet arms, expect a call from me ~12:00PM PST tomorrow to order a set of LCAs :).

Owned quite a few 4x4's over the yrs.. about 4 yrs ago i bought a 87 xj and wanted a lift.. bought the 3" rc and it came with a full length aal and thier shocks..rear never sagged, front flexed good, rear didn't.. but no aal lift does..i beat the crap out of that lift..have since sold it with the same shocks on it..bottom line for the entry level street/weekend warrior you can't beat them..would i buy one now? no have moved up in lift and obstacle level and they don't fit into my needs.. for the record the vast majority of lifts out there don't come with shocks and we all no aal's are rough and short ones will sag quickly..everyone buying a lift should do there homework before buying any of them.. RC fills a nitch in the market..and due to thier prices a lot of young wheelers get involved in thier rigs and the sport..and most of all they back thier products.. my 02 take it for what it's worth..

i bought the roughcountry 6.5 extreme duty lift less than a year ago and have greatly regretted doing so, in less the a month the rear leafs were trashed and severly saged to one side!!, the adjustable control arms make some funny noises all the time and they have aquired some play. i can honestly say that i have trashed every bushing in that kit and then some. i hated it soo much that i eneded up buying a whole new kit from rubicon express.

it is not worth the money, if you are going to buy a lift kit spend the extra money or save up, youll be so much happier in the end. and it will last alot longer.

...and I had purchase a kit from RE and had clunking control arms (super flex) and shackles that were not made to the right size that would pop and clunk. Replaced the shackles with RC and have had no problems. RE sucks ass for hard parts.

How long does the introductory price last on the DBs?

THIS is funny. I've never had my SF's or ridden in a rig with SF's and heard clunking. After a couple years of hard wheeling, they may need to be rebuilt, but they are solid. My RE shackles fit like a glove and didn't say a word. Sucks ass for hard parts? Come on

Back to Rough Country, since you felt the need to squeeze that in :kissyou:

I have the 4.5 kit with RC shocks. There is some pretty serious rust forming on my shock pistons up front. Is that something I should worry about? My upper shock bushings were shot and Grimus took care of me with those.

Jason made me an incredible deal on LCAs the other day, I should be getting them on Monday.

This is my rough country 4.5 with 33x12.50. i had to get a T&T custome track bar though. the bracket that comes with the lift sucks and save for the spring pack not the add-a-leaf. mine is sagging already and its only been like 5 months. if that. other than that i love it.
