Finally a working laptop and a couple pics to satisfy the needs of some.


Yanked the 60 out and took a weekend to throw 5.38's/lockright/Ten Factory chromos/ECGS flanges along with all new bearings and seals and such. Got all the brakes together and run some brake lines on the axle to a flex line up the UCA. Drilled and tapped the RS cover for the breather and I'll run the vent line up with the brakes.

Finally!! Paint!! Got some Rustoleum enamel paint and brushed it on everything underneth. Also did some of the body and the rear half of the inside.

Got the bumps and shocks and all the jazz in there. Tossed the front end all together. Finished up both crossmembers for exhaust and driveshaft clearance. Traction bar is all together, rear brakes are gunna split on the axle with a flex like the front.

Built the exhaust this weekend. Ordered a bunch of random junk I needed, got some header wrap and SS band clamps. Gunna wrap the exhaust where it gets close to the floor and outback near the gas tank, might do the whole thing if I have enough. Got all new cooling system stuff Im gunna toss on and hook the engine harness and stuff back up. Im getting Colin's 3row CSF this weekend too, then I can hopefully fire this thing back up.

Thanks Bill. Speaking of wrapping it up :eyes: what did you use to hold your exhaust wrap one? Hose clamps? On long stretches on piping, did you add extra things to hold the middle section?

The header wrap should include a couple small hose clamps.

Dont think so, I just bought a 50' roll off Jeg's. They suggest this fancy wire tie thingys, but then you gotta buy some fancy little gun to do it. Says you can you hose clamps instead I believe.

Thanks Bill. Speaking of wrapping it up :eyes: what did you use to hold your exhaust wrap one? Hose clamps? On long stretches on piping, did you add extra things to hold the middle section?

not sure what others used, but on a buddies we needed something for a quick trip out so we;
1. strip down some 10g wire so it's just the wire, bout 3' of it
2. stick 2 strands in a vice, other ends in cordless drill chuck
3. drill until strands are "braided" snuggly
4. wrap wire around heat wrap where needed, twist with somepliers, snip off excess and move on to next spot.
5. repeat until no more wire left,
6. repeat steps 1-5 if more needed

for a quick weekend fix, he hasn't replaced it going on 8 months now. may not look as clean as SS zip-ties, etc, but you also don't see much of it where the exhaust runs.

I used this, which came with stainless ties.

Pair of pliers is all you need with those.

Or Home Depot & Lowes carry stainless ties as well, not sure how expensive they are but after shipping on the above, probably overall cheaper. But really, you might even save money and use some good narrow stainless hose clamps like you thought.
