I would agree with you, but I think it was biased just a little bit more towards the environmentalists. I think there could have been a little more information on safe wheeling and other aspects that wheelers go through to help the environment and such.
 
oh definitley geared towards the environmentalists, i started watching it and said oh god here we go hippies bitching about us again, then it got into the not all 4x4 people are bad.
 
I disagree.

The film was geared towards the "Mudders" in the area. Of special note was the comment about going to any area HS and seeing all the muddy trucks/jeeps/SUVs.

The info from the 4WD Association was to say "See, we have responsible people using the Forest, you should join them".

I wish though that they would have made the film with a bit less of the student/ activist characters and a bit more of the 4WD Association President as he seemed well spoken. Perhaps they were attempting to match their speakers age with those of their target audience.

The Film is factual and spot on. We can coexist in the Forests with our fellow environmentalists, we just need to be cognizant that we are not the only Forest users and stay on the trails.

Responsible trail use is more than staying on the trails though. Some of it is not using those trails when the soil conditions will not support sustained use, like during the spring thaw.

That chick... Talks about the land being beautiful, and the tracks destroying her fantasy that she was the only one ever there, and the land was just for her...

That's the attitude I hate about greenies. THEN in the NEXT frame she says:

"I think selfish and ignorant people have the mentality to disreguard other people in the environment"

Nice b*tch... Nice. So you being selfish doesn't count? Only when we want to have fun, it's selfish?
 
There is no reason to refer to anyone in that film in a derogatory way.

I think some of you are taking this informative little bit of film a little too seriously.

I personally would like to call the film something other than "Our Backyard". perhaps something of it's actual subject, which is a river reclamation project and how "some" people are messing it up. But it is what it is.

The more people there are, the more diverse the interests will be in the Forest.

We have to get along with everyone and it's about high time we recognize that there are those among us who are more our enemy than the "Greenies".

We are all "Environmentalists". We want to use this resource in a responsible manner so that our children, and their children, and their children will be able to enjoy the Outdoors as we have been able to. In order to do that, we have to see both sides of this issue and somedays our boots will be on one side of the fence, and somedays the other.

maybe this is just the perspective of an arizona wheeler who sees little wet ground, but if my jeep is covered in mud, its probably not due to me going mudding/getting off the trail, but its probably because I was on the trail and theres been rain recently enough, or i got caught in the rain, and the puddles form in the trail... Hell, I've seen my moms 2wd soccer mom jeep muddy, and she doesn't go off-road. If the hippies just look at any muddy vehicle and assume thats how many people go into a "meadow full of flowers" and put the pedal to the floor... well, I don't even wanna know what kind of misunderstanding is taking place.

and yes, i watched the whole video, and I don't think it was horrible, but I did have some trouble with a few things that were said... apparently its not just some of the wheelers that are ignorant.

i think it had a point, but they were putting a stereotype on offroaders in general, claiming that they just went around thrashing any land they could find. while some people may do this, alot of people dont. ORV drivers in offroad clubs respect the land and clean up the trails that they go on (and stay on those trails only). i want to enjoy nature just as much as the next person, and it saddens me to see dirt tracks and trash left behind from someone that just does not care. i take the initive to clean up that trash and stay on the trails, they are giving us a bad image.

the thing about someone who is muddy must have gone through a meadow is completely ignorant on their part, i know trails here in maine get VERY muddy after a good rainstorm, and i personally like the look of my jeep coated in mud, but not in flowers that i ripped up.
 
If it is illegal it's illegal and it shouldn't be done, however I've done that years ago.

Now with that sensibility said my personal opinion is environmentalist should be b*tch slapped :twak: until they get a balance between people and the environment.

In my opinion it is the environmentalist that is the reason we do not have the refining capacity to help supply our selves with fuel, and a lack of nuclear plants to generate electricity instead of doing so from burning fossil fuels.

OMG what about 200 years ago. Would they be complaining about the wagon marks in the grass, or the herds of cattle being driven to market.

I'm all for electric cars, and XJ's for that matter, but something in the range of a small fusion reactor with enough power to make the damn thing fly.

There is an extreme group that believes we should stop having children so in 75 years, or so, the planet would be rid of the pesky humans.

I've had my fill of this politically correct bull sh*t. Put the damn Indian back on the TV with the tear in his eye so people won't litter and be done with it. :flamemad:

I fully agree with Ron's view on the video.
 
Notice how the one who is actually picking up the garbage on the trail is the jeeper, and not the enviornmentalist. The clips of the mudders trucks were old POS's that were sitting there with only one tire spinning in the mud and the Jeeps were heavily modified and doing their put-put down the trail. My XJ gets muddy all the time just on the drive back and forth to work, potholes, my driveway and the occasional dirt road, not the nice meadows full of flowers.
I enjoy camping and hikeing, but I'm looking for good parks around where I live where you can/need a 4x4 to get to a remote campsite, instead of hikeing 4 or 5 hours and arriving exhausted.

HA you said it man . Sounds like a bunch of tree-hugging Hippie Shit to me. Did you like how its always a Jeep guy who is cleaning up the trash left by the Mullet-rocking, beer guzzling, Ford and Chevy Pick-em-up drivers. I like trail-rides because in the Jeep World MUD IS BAD!!!!! Especially on stock axles. Ask my roommate. :twak:BAD HIPPIES
 
Enviormentalists and enviornmental wannabe's are far worse than any wheelers I know. Most wheelers are fairly respectful of the areas the wheel. This guy I knew was telling me a story how he was on his ATV going down a trail, and he saw a jogger, so he pulled off to the side to let him by, but the jogger ran up and punched him in the mouth.

Tolerance is a lesson often preached by rarely followed by these righteous types. Being reasonable and practical is not in there nature.

Luckily there is NAXJA and other organizations that are hard at work to preserve our right to wheel.

No he told the jogger that he is lucky that he isn't some psycho. running up and punching a random person is to the smartest thing to do. I guess they parted ways after that.
