I figured it would be easier to ask then read through every thread trying to find what i need. I have an 88 xj and am about to start a stroker project. I will be using a later model head and would like to use the later model TB. I have read about people modifing there TPS to work on the later TB but they never say how. So i would really apriciate it if someone either could tell me how or point me in the rite direction. And does it change anything that i run a aw4 auto?

Better head, and TB (maybe?). 99+intake is the best tho.

The later TB is huge compared to the Renix TB.

More response. Maybe more power, the TB is relatively huge. Be aware, swapping to this intake removes the option of having a functioning EGR system, and therefore the Renix exhaust manifold needs to be modified or replaced, so not so great of a swap if you have inspections or don't like breaking laws. I took a exhaust sniff test for fun and passed it without EGR or a cat, but you will fail visual inspection, as they frown upon removing emissions parts.

Note I did not put the HO intake/head onto a Renix engine, I'm using the entire engine on Renix electronics. But it has been done, and the later intake/TB appear to be greatly superior. As said, 99+ is best, tho I believe it's the same TB, and my intake from 1993 still looks better than the one from 1987.

Hey that's my tread ! Ya !!
Its worked out quit well . Throtal responce is snapy ,to say the lest .but I was able to get the adjustment spot on . I went with the whole 99 upgrade .I did delete the egr system .and I'm using a pacesetter header from the 89 block . It lined up with the head no problem and there was no clearance issues with the manifols. I did reuse all renix electronics .and fule raiile .this went into a 89 with a auto . Hope that it hels you out

The tps needs an adapter. Hesco makes one: http://www.hesco.us/shop.asp?action=details&inventoryID=45563&catId= . Now let's see if I can find the thread from some months ago where someone made their own. . . http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=990190&highlight=adapter+hesco
Doesn't matter if it's an aw4 or ax15(or ba-10).

So the Renix fuel rail and injectors worked well with the 99' intake & TB? I am planning on putting a 93' head on a 87' w/the 99' intake & TB. Did you completely remove the whole EGR system?

i reused my renix fule rail and injectors . i did have to weld tabs to the fuel rail mounting brackts to make it work other wize they dont line up " just the mounting , the injectors lined up just fine . ill get a pic for u in the netx day or so.

as promised . better late than never .

yea its a mess but other than running hot its running good .

Thanks for following up, far too many don't keep their word on that.

Ya, thanks for the pics, very helpful. One more peice in the puzzle. I was wondering if the stock Renix injectors would provide enough fuel flow, could you be running lean maybe ?

well im sure my heavy rt foot and the 35's dont help matters either .but that was also with the ac running all the time .
IDK tho i might do the injector upgrade . a guy over in oem forum got quite a bost in mpg by upgrading to a beater injector ,with a slightly larger flow .
