Removable Trail Step

I may eventually type a build thread for my XJ. But for now I though some people might be interested in this. But first a short back story to explain the "Why Bother?" behind this. 3 years ago, 2 weeks after getting married, my wife got sick. Found out she has an Auto Immune disorder that effects her muscles and other body parts. She also cant be in the sun much, and is easily overheated. So I traded my Scout II for an XJ with A/C and tinted windows. Which brings us to the step. Because of her disease, her upper body strength is very weak. So I wanted to make a semi permanent, yet removable strep. Something that could be left on for everyday driving, camping, hunting, 2wd trails. But my jeep is also being built to play on Fordyce and Rubicon, so the step has to be out of the rocks. So I did this:

It is extend chains from a gradall type long reach forklift. The chains can swing front to back, in relation to the Jeep, but not side to side. So the can take a hit and swing out of the way, but dont swing under when you use them. When faced with a hard rocky trail, as part of pre trail walk around(air down, pull sway bar discos), Simply pull 2 7/16" linch pins per side and toss the steps in the tool box in the back:

Like so. At some point, I may share more of my build when im not spending all my free time well, building it! And sorry for cell phone pics, what I had at the time.

Kinda like Catapiller loaders and dozers only they use 1" cable or strips of conveyor belt.

I grew up working at a ski resort. The graders from the factory had the belt style. But eventually rotted and fell of. For years my dad was making replacements out of chain like this. Where i got the idea. But i wanted fully removable as well. I want to be able to have nothing on the side or bottom of the sliders when i need to use them.
