Reiter check-in and trail leader volunteers.

Let me rephrase...

My front tire tread is heading towards the lower side. With the extra miles I will be putting on her, my tires will need to be replaced over the next few months. When that time comes, should I stay with the same tires or go with Truxus Super Swampers or something. I am thinking of going with the Cheapest (Truxus, I think), but I need to research how long the tread will last onroad.

Oh no...

Just browsing around another forum and someone asked about relocating a Vacuum Cannister.

Cr@p, that is where my front bumper was punched in. Better check that baby out.

At least one of those can be improvised. :)

IMHO
I have a huge thumbs up on TRUXUS. I have almost two years and 23,000 miles on mine and they are wearing GREAT. I think that I have 60%-70% of my tire life left. No numbers to back it up but I rotate EVERY 3000 miles and check tire pressure twice a month. I think that I will get atleast 50,000 out of them. :)

Any one have a new 265/75r16 TRUXUS MT? I would like to know the tread depth in mm.

Edit: I just looked on Interco's site and they have a Skid depth of 19/32" Is that tread depth they are talking about???. If so I will measure my depth when I get home and have a hard fact number for you.

Well just measured my tread I started at .594" according to the wed site and now I am at .390". So I have about .25" of tread till I need to replace. Can't get away with .15" in Washington with the mud. Not bad for 23K and only lost .200" of tread.

Everyone knows my opinion. Lockers are overrated. Yes they are wonderful but you do not "Need" one.

The BFG's are good, the Truxus is probably very good also. Personally I would purchase 1 new BFG and use it along with your spare. Then take the the other two you have on the front as spares. Rotate all 5 or 6 regularly untill you need a new set of 5 tires (then pick your favorite at that time). Only purchasing the 1 now will probably save you from purchasing new tires for quite some time.

If your code reader says TPS, change that first. Check all your vacuum lines but I suspect one of your sensors.

To everybody wondering. I made it down fine till I got to the water crossing. I made it through the water fine, but the little hill afterwards is what got me. I couldn't manage enough speed to get up it with just front wheel drive. Thankfully for me there was a couple guys at that spot with a tow rope and a heavy right foot. As Mike said the jeep probably weighs alot! After that point it was clear sailing. I ended up heading through Duvall, Fall City and finally over the falls to Northbend. Very interesting driving that far with only FWD. Thank god for SYE's. Never would've made it home without. So Jake you got a line on a shaft yet. I'm heading out again this weekend and like spares. If not don't worry, give me a call when you get one. By the way thanks everyone for the help, and all the straps, caps and bolts. Overall it was a great trip, the only damage was a rock-rail and a rear yoke. By the way, anybody have a spare D44 rear yoke?
