Redbird SRA Trail clean up and maintance Nov 15th

Yep. Once cleanup is done, we will be free to wheel until closing time. I can't promise anything, but I may be able to stay a little while longer than 5 so you guys can wheel if you want and I'll lock up once everyone is done.

so once my junk is broke on the trail you'll be able to stay until we get the wadded up mess off the trail...

I know for sure the first pit you drop into off Trail 0 needs to either be filled in a bit or have the dropoff smoothed out; the ledge was about 3' tall on the P/S last time I was out there. I'll try to get some gravel available for us to use for that.

Other than that one area, I think just general trail maintenance (trimming branches, clearing stumps, etc) needs to be done. Additional signage is available if we need to make turns or bypasses more clear. I can't think of anything right offhand, those that were there in August may remember something else.

Would that be the one i got stuck on? :D Also i'm still planning to make it out since gas is rather cheap at the time being! I need to make me a stick with a screw or nail in the end so my crippled ass can help out. unless of course you guys need a supervisor:dunno:

quick question! I picked up a 3 inch bolt in one of my tires last weekend. I had it repaired at the local tire shop. Will my jeep be alright on the trail with a plug in the tire?

Also i looked at the 10-day forecast and it looks like its gonna be 55 and sunny the 15th but i'm not counting on that to stay the same :D

Mac - yep.

Flex - that's the one. Plug should be fine, but if it were me I'd make sure to have a full size spare with me just in case.

i do but its a 225/75 and my tires are 235/75's

thats what i figured :D

From the looks of it right now, Kim is taking the kids to Indy for the weekend, so I'll be able to stay and wheel Sunday as long as I can get the XJ's d-shaft fixed in time.

If not, anybody have an open shotgun?

I have an open seat, as I'm sure several others will too.

Going to be a Saturday only event for me.

Will be in Michigan the entire following week and in India for a few weeks in December so I'll be sticking around the house while I can.

Will have a chainsaw and other tools.

I'm gonna make it i think. My buddy has a chainsaw we can use should I bring it?

alright i thought i would ask i'll just bring a stick with a nail in it :D

Is electricity available at the campground?

If there is a thought that its needed i could bring my 5500 watt generator with me...

i'm bringing my stihl too...

At this point, I'm planning on being in b-town friday night, redbird saturday, camping saturday night, then homeward bound on sunday...

I just talked to the people at GS, and camping is available year round, but the water has been shut off. Any water needs will have to be taken care of by yourself or in town. The rate has been reduced to $5/night to compensate.

I'm not camping, have to be home that night.

No juice at the campground.

It doesn't look like I'll be camping now. Sounds like Dad may ride along and he needs to be home. I've been trying to get him to go on a Jeep run for a long time, I'm looking forward to it. This one isn't the typical MWC run but, it'll do. :D

This is not a run I'm going to invite anyone new to wheelin too...maybe if i had doors...

Bring the baby XJ!

Baby XJ needs some new flooring over the muffler...right now its a co2 nightmare waiting to happen...

the smell that i thought last year at winterfest was tranny burning up...was carpet under the rear seats burning...it finally caught on fire in october when a buddy borrowed it. no disaster, just lots of smoke...i cut the carpet all out, but found a big hole above the muffler...

so there's some work to be done if theres a decision to be made on which one makes it to winterfest...and that's for another thread...

No camping and no XJ for me. Steering has developed a clunk through its range of travel and I don't trust it. That and I haven't fixed the driveshaft yet. Have to be back so I can ride with the local CO Sunday.

Illiana 'checkin' deer' XJ :D

Flex's pit has already been filled an a bypass around that small section put in place. There will still be a pile of rock and a tractor available if we decide to use any of it.

Should make for a fairly easy cleanup, although the current weather is gonna make it interesting :D
