Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

I might be able to go. My Moab trip is getting kinda beat up :( I dont think I can miss school that week, so Hot Springs just might be the trip to open up my XJ and see what it can do.

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

Hi! New here. I'd love to go if I can get my silly V6 to pass inspection.

It's stock so I might just end up spending time hanging out and meeting people and getting ideas of what I want to do with this XJ.

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

Mine's stock too and I am attending to meet the guys and see what's available.

I'm planning on having a good time!

Hi, welcome to I bought it a few years ago before i knew about rusty's except for on powerblock (I know shoot me). I'm not spending anymore money with them I am just sending it to him and he is "sending me another one", which i will add some metal to to reinforce where it broke. i'll prolly buy the RE one sometime soon but i dont know if the space for the joints are the same size (that probably doesn't make any sense but i don't know how else to explain it).

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

I don't believe the spacing is, easy enough to cut off part of it and redo it. Any pics of the breakage?

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

OK....after re-reviewing, I am not sure about going as I don't have tow hooks (or a tree strap, whatever that is) as of yet. I realize that there's still a month to go, but funds are very limited atm....even to the point of spending $75 for the brackets and hooks is gonna be a stretch for me. Any suggestions of cheaper alternatives?

Also, are these only needed in the front or do I need to figure out how to install on the rear?

Sorry, I'm a newbie still. :D

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

Don't get on a trail without tow points front and rear, have a hitch in the rear? You can sometimes find factory hooks in the junkyard, should be much cheaper than 75$.

Like Ramsey said, as long as you have a trailer hitch it's pretty easy to get a D-Ring adapter for your trailer hitch (like this one). As for a tree-saver, it's just a 2" or 3" wide nylon strap with weaved in loops thats wrapped around a tree to use as a winch point to avoid stressing your cable or tearing up the tree.

All that said, as long as you've got a trailer hitch, then you should be alright as others on the trail with you will have the hitch adapter and tree-savers for you to borrow in the event you need winching.

BTW, welcome to NAXJA! What part of Texas are you in?

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

Thank you for the welcome!

I'm in Denton.

Currerntly no trailer hitch, but that should be easy to remedy. I guess I'll have to go rummage through salvage yards....darn.;)

The thing failed emissions testing again this morning. The CO gets worse each time. Still hoping to get it sorted out between now and the trip time though.

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

What is on everyone's list of things to do?

I have to:
Buy more steel to finish my Rock Sliders (and actually get out there and do it)
Install my RC Drop Brackets once they get here in a couple days
Install my quick disconnects
Figure out how I am going to set up my bumpstops, and get them done

and last but not least

Get some longer Brake lines for the front. Anyone know of a good cheap source of longer brake lines?

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

there is a chevy brake line that will work ,cant remember which one offhand. I got by with straightening out the hard line with 5" or so of lift.

I know it's not the end of Feb, yet, but I was curious how things were looking for you?
I may be able to make it by then, there is some stuff with my business that is holding me up, so I still won't know till the end of the month. I am making preparations though, getting alot of work finished on the Jeep.

I've still got to make my Sliders , Front bumper, install 3link, and do some more trimming most likely.

Man.... where was that pic taken.... I must go there!

Re: Red River Chapter Inaugural Run - Roll Call!

Clayton, OK green acres.

It's awesome.

Not always wet though, I've been both dry and wet, both are fun.

Another pic (to help promote the urge to make it to this run of course)
