quote of the day thread..

Hahaha. It was in regards to watching people beat up their rigs but the way Justin worded it still has me cracking up.

"That sounds really gross" -bwfdrums
"Hahahaha!!!" -me

Were the replies to Justin's text.

"...and they squared off with me in the parking lot like they were gonna kick my ass. And I backed down because I didn't know how many of them it was gonna take, but I knew how many they were gonna use."

Thank You to the Great Lakes 4x4 Community, for the love, support, and understanding given to me (Collin) and my Family during this struggle.

........and with his statement I would like to add the article posted in the GLFWDA "Boondocker".

Life Celebration of Collin Hansen
Collin Hansen left his mark in this world for everybody in the 4 wheeling community to see. He was a son, husband, father, and friend who left those of us who knew him wanting more. He also was an outdoor enthusiast, who loved being with nature, and off-roading. From his trips to Drummond Island, Rocks & Valleys, Badlands, and Silver Lake Sand Dunes near his home, he was either participating in an adventure or talking about going to one. Even while going through medical treatments he could still find the strength to help preserve our trails as shown in his involvement with the 56th Ave Near Silver Lake Road repair project in the fall of 2011.
Some have commented about his stature, being a giant of a man. We knew this to be true, but more so in due to his personality and heart for others, than his physical size. There wasn’t a person on this planet that Collin would not try to be a friend with. Sure he had disagreements, but would extend his hand and maybe offer you a cold beverage while he discussed with you the conflict.
Cancer took our young friend right before Memorial weekend, 2012. He was so looking forward to spending time in one of his off-road havens, with his son Cole and wife Courtney in the upcoming summer. He wanted to celebrate the accomplishments in his life that he was so proud of before he left this life for eternity. He gave many of us a mandate, to enjoy life, not to sweat the little stuff, and to LOVE EACH OTHER as Family and Fellow Man.
When his friends got together that rainy Friday to say their farewells to the beloved man, there was heaviness in the crowd. The mood changed however, when at the end of the trail ride in honor of Collin, we were given an amazing site. The sun broke out of the clouds and gave us a beautiful red glow across the horizon, as if to say, “Celebrate my friends, all is well”.

“I met Collin on the trail and he left us on a trail ride.”………………………………………… (Erin Early)

The first 30 years of Collin’s life he spent learning how to be a man, after his diagnosis, he spent it as a teacher to show the rest of us how to have that “Life Celebration”.

"expensive beer is meant to be enjoyed. there are more efficient ways of getting hammered."

-Walt

Talking to him about spending less money on booze.

I can kinda like that, but even dollar-for-dollar, I can knock you on your ass faster with a good double IPA than a whole case of Busch Light...

There's a little bit of info out there for a couple of alcohol concerns. There's a site for "Get drunk, not fat" to compare the amount of alcohol with calories. Then there's one for getting drunk and not poor. Dollar for dollar, booze for booze, box-o-wine is the cheapest drunk you can get.

no shame in drinking good booze! but if im buying good booze, i want to enjoy it and the drunk. drunk is drunk, but i dont want to puke all my money down the toilet. i will say, i find less of a hangover off of good booze.

we usually start off our nights with the cheap stuff to get sufficiently smashed. then switch to the good drinks to maintain the buzz. then get too drunk and go too hard. then beer pong turns into strip beer pong. then strip beer pong turns into tandem BJs while high fiving my buddy. which turns into a random hook up...

huh... thats how that evening went.

Did he look up at you as he high fived or did he focus on his work? :spin1:

Something I wrote to show how I kind of feel at the end of the school year, don't get me wrong, I love my job and what I do its just everyone 'vents' sometimes... Based off of "F You till Monday"

“Screw You till Monday”

Don’t take this personal, but I hate being here on time…
When I see the students outside, I’ve considered taking my life…
After 40 hours of hearing them whine, let me make just one thing clear…
The last thing I want to do is stay right here…
So Screw You till Monday, don’t try to come and take a quiz…
Screw You till Monday, I’m a teacher, we’re not friends…
After 5 days straight of dealing with their crap, I’m ready to run away…
So kindly, get out of my face…
So Screw You till Monday, oh politely I say go home…
Screw You till Monday, stop asking questions I just want to be alone…
I see you more than my wife and [theoretical] kids, so when 3:30 hits know this…
Screw you till Monday, screw you till Monday…
Screw you till Monday….
I hope you get hit by a bus.

wow, that bad after one year of teaching and you even get 3 months off in the summer... :D

Ummm, that was pretty dark, and you just put those feeling on the internet.

^^^^ That!!

This is the second time that I have seen you openly slam on your students on the internet. If you were my childs teacher and I saw this I would be reporting it to your superiors and would push for your removal.

I believe you should rethink your proffesion if you already dislike it that much. If you express these feelings often I am sure it affects your work and the students WILL notice it.

He did say that he loves his job. Everybody has mixed emotions about their job sooner or later. They're not all good days. I'm sure he's just had some stress come out of it. Teachers love summer vacation too.

And if he can't say how he feels with this club without that great amount of criticism, where can he vent his feelings on stuff. He's not at all sincere, believe that.

And I'm sure he's not alone when he's "off the clock" on Friday afternoon, like anyone, he's ready for the weekend and doesn't want to be bothered with work.

I got to side with Kman on this. I was a lab tech for an automotive program for 3 years. I would still be there except I decided to continue my education for the possibility of teaching full time in the field some day. Yes there are bad apples, yes the bullshit is thick when dealing with faculty, but you should never discourage or put down your students no matter what the reason.

Have you thought about teaching post secondary? I really think you might fare better there than where you are now if these feelings are already happening. It's a completely different world.

Having said that. I personally could never teach in a high school type setting for a number or reasons. Possibly the reasons you have now.
