I second the motion.

I'm not saying you didn't have a good looking Jeep, but you very much beat it up. Nothing wrong with that either, its a natural result of the level of trails you had moved on to doing and the requisite modifications to do them.

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

Finally got a few hours this weekend to work on the jeep a little...the second fender went a lot faster since i knew it wasnt gonna fit perfect so i didnt even waste a bunch of time trying to get it to look perfect. The driver fender fits about the same as the pass. side, not great but not too bad, the bottom of the fender near the rocker is the worst fitting part of both fenders.

I forgot to put up pics of my mastercraft military blast attenuation seats i snagged off craigslist from a guy down on ft carson. I got a smokin good deal on these and have been driving around in them for the last month, i absolutely love them!

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

Very nice, now get more of that Rescue Green paint on it.

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

Looks great. What is next?

The drivers door is the next thing i need to tackle, then cut-n-fold the bottom of the quarter panels at your house one weekend in the near future lol! Then figure out what to do for rear flares...kinda leaning towards either rustys flex flares or napier v2 flares for cut quarters. I really like the loos-nuts xj and the jeepspeed xjs with front and rear hannemanns but i hate 33x12.5s and im afraid with my 33x10.5s id end up looking like this:

The jeep doesnt look bad but with skinny wheels/tires the rear flares just look way too wide.

After i decide on rear flares and get those on there will only be a little bit of bodywork left before itll all be one color again (strong possibility itll stay rescue green).

Then its on to bumpers, suspension, drivetrain, and steering.

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

I bet a set of wheel spacers would push those 10.50's out enough to look fine. Those wheels pictured have more backspacing than the ones you have if I remember correctly. (it sure looks like it anyway.)

I already have wheel spacers front and rear...i believe the ones i have are 1.5". and the ravines have 5.5" of backspacing, so thats a 4" backspacing on my wheels. I could ditch the ravines and wheel spacers for some aftermarket wheels that have 3.5-3" of backspacing and end up with an 1-1.5" wider track width per side. But right now my wheels sit perfect in the front, they dont need pushed out much wider, maybe .5" at the most, and it looks like with the rear hannemanns id need another couple inches of width to look right. Idk

i wish iceland hadnt been such D bags and then went out of business, a pair of those would have looked good on the back

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

I picked myself up a christmas present this weekend...Got a brand new advanced adapters slip yoke eliminator for my 231 this weekend. I scored it from a kid on craigslist for $175 bucks, i wouldnt call it a steal, but definitely got a decent deal on it!

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

im gonna try and find a spare transfer case to rebuild then just swap mine out the same time i swap axles out. After i figure out what tires/gears ill be running ill buy the correct speedo gear....what else do you guys think i should replace when im going through the t-case? I was also wondering if anybody had any firsthand experience with hd/wide chain kits, are these worth doing?

I haven't looked into the cost, but I've also never felt a need to upgrade the chain. I never hurt the factory chain on my Tera low converted 231, and neither did David as far as I know.

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

I tend to agree -- I'm running a stock chain in the 231 behind the v8 in the WJ, although I did upgrade to a 6-planetary...

Re: where have all the good cherokees fs gone

I just helped rckymtnguy install a sye on his 231. He sourced it from a used 231 he found on CL, so, he currently has a 231 pulled apart he wants to sell. The tag says 96 i believe, but it has a 21 spline input gear, so we think someone swapped gears in this case in the past as 21 spl wasnt an option in '96. Anyways, you could get yourself most of what you need for your sye install, Proracedriver, if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer squirrel, but ill have to pass, if i have to swap input shafts then i may as well just pull my case and use that. Im gonna just keep my eyes out for a complete 23 spline 231.
