Project: Rattle Rattle

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

also if you cant see in that pic, i won cleanest jeep, which i found awesome since i have always been a fan of keeping my shit looking nice. i do take pride in my ride and appreciate others noticing:cheers:

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

it was the rear bumper that helped seal the deal :D

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Clean Jeep. I would have dropped the RC braces before cutting the stiffies short! I just welded mine directly to the stiffies when I had drop brackets, the self tapping bolts come loose after a while anyways. Looks like they could also use some more perimeter weld IMO. I would also recommend some sealer around the edges, I used 3M body sealant.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

How are the grabbers in the rocks? I'm sure it's in here but I don't want to read it again :D

they did good in the rock garden we went into. i didnt get a chance to play around in the quarry to much.

i was not planning on using WF as a test because of the mud, snow, water, and ice. the bigger test will be sometime in the summer months.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Next up on the must do list was music

these things suck so i needed more. had a few things sitting around the house and picked up some new and used stuff to get the job done.

everything got a "rough" install(still need to make it pretty) and worked fine the other day. today when i start the jeep, it starts making a nasty popping bad sound and this is with the vol at 1. so in reality i should have not heard anything.

so i thought maybe the sub is blown or something. i will check it out. then on my drive to work the battery gauge jumps up to 19. i turn off the radio and pull over. pulled the fuse out of the amp assuming the amp may be bad. get back pn the road and turn on the radio(now no sub or amp) just highs and after a few mins it jumps to 19 again. i turn off the radio and it drops to normal and does not do it again while the radio is off.

this radio also would not skip songs, only fast forward them. and didn't keep any of the stations i set the other day. so i guess the 30 dollar tv/dvd radio i picked up used is junk.

so i will have to get a new radio and some finished product pics.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Radios and wires play the biggest part in my opinion.

My jeep sounded awesome with my Xplod radio, that took a crap so I put the stuff in the baby jeep and it sucked!! I absolutely HATE pioneer stereo equipment. It will be getting upgraded to a Kenwood and the pioneer will go in the camper soon.

back to this...
this is the radio i originally put in

after the stuff mentioned in the above post the jeep needed to be jump started. so i pulled the battery and tested it. needed a new battery.
no sure if the is from the radio or just a coincidence but i put a new battery in and pulled the radio out. like i said i was not that happy with it anyways.

so i originally had a buddy help with the install, when i pulled it out and saw his electrical tape hack job i decided to learn how to do it myself.
thanks to youtube, i installed it pretty and neat.

then i hid most of the amp wiring and decided to mount the amp between the hi lift mounts in hopes that the jack will kind of give it protection.

now back in the day i used to be big into a trunk full of "bang" all my rides had lots of subs. this was suppose to just give me a little thump because OE gave me nothing.
well this one little 12 is hitting hard. and although its much more than i expected i am reminded of how much i love it. add in the fact that the highs and screaming and this sound perfect cruising down the road.

radio sync's with the phone so it has been pretty cool blasting what i want off my Pandora stations. and the bluetooth is great since talking on the phone was made illegal.

last step was waiting on a wire to run the bass knob, that just came in, so i need to slap that in.

now i just have to figure out where the heck i put the bass knob.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

looks good. I too joined the 21st century with a handsfree radio.

If you move the cell mic to the steering column it will work mo better. Ideally you want it directly in front of you. They are very directional to reduce noise.

You can run the wire behind the center console stack supports and into the area to the right of the gauge cluster. Tons of space to hide a bundle o wire there, then just pop it out and stick it on the column.

the mic will be moved. i want it clipped on the trim right about where my head is, above the drivers door. i will be redoing the headliner eventually so i figured id just wait until all that trim is off anyways and then mount it there. this is the same general area the mic is set up in my fusion and it works really well, so i figure it should work there on the jeep also.

i do have to talk pretty loudly to be heard.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Fix your CB while your learning.

mac 'please' gyvr

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Oh yeah...the tunes look like they will sound great.

Maybe louder than grandpa Dan's?

Are you going to paint your interior trim silver too?

mac 'or paint the interior trim red?' gyvr

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

^^^ LOL

Were did you get the radio? I like the wireless syncing of the phone. That may mean new radio for the truck and move the ol' Kenwood to the jeep
