Project: Rattle Rattle

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Do you ever work on your own stuff?

mac 'heh' gyvr

Rew said the same thing to me not to long ago after looking through the thread.

FYI, It is very hard to take pics of yourself working on your jeep.

But if proof is what you are looking for, this was this past Saturday night, getting a sway bar and sway bar disconnects on.

:D
Had a few friends over Saturday drinking while I was doing this project, and since we were all in the garage, my wife took a few pics of the job.

I have not been that concerned with pics of me. But if you are wanting to see more pics of me all dirty and gressy, working hard and sweating on my jeep, I will make sure you get those. I just didn't know you played on that side of the fence:D

Side note: Here is a couple more pics of me not working on my jeep.
Guys at work welding the rear sway bar brackets to the floor, for my shocks.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Got a bracket for the steering stabilizer welded up on the left side, to get it out of the way of all that steering it was hitting.

Mounted it up and drove it home. Very happy with the smooth ride after this and the sway bar.

The bracket is half of a explorer door hinge, crazy the perfect shit you find laying on the floor of a body shop

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

drove all the way to the shop today just to take a pic of him working on his own jeep...

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

it is very nice, i will admit. the only downfall would be that every thing you do has to be a finishable project. shop closes at 5pm and your shit better be off that rack by then.
i wrench in my garage when its a little warmer out, mostly because i enjoy wrenching with some buddies and beers. cant really do that at work.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

i was waiting until i got some more work done, but since rew bumped the thread, here is the latest jobs

picked up a set of rough country control arm drop brackets to improve the ride a little bit. aside from those damn bolts that are a bitch to get in and out of their holes, everything went on smooth

thought all was good but now my sway bar links are hitting my coils.

i think that may be an easy fix, there is a little spacer on them that i am hoping if i pull off they will line up ok.

added some euro horsepower by spraying my lights black

was cleaning up the frame rails and snapped this shot for the no believers

i got it all cleaned up, but i have no welding skill and want this done before WF and guys at work are super busy, so i think i am going to have to find someone to help me out here.

started the cut and fold rear bumper. as you can see in this pic, i am using the tail gate strut that is not installed yet to prop up the gate...:jester:

of coarse that didnt get finished. something went wrong with the cutter and i just stopped before i hurt myself.

so i finally put on the tail gate struts

yay! vice grips can go back in the tool box

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

got the cut and fold finished up last night.

well i still have to do a little paint work...

Next up will be getting this fancy Cheeseman fab bumper on!

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

keep on keeping on
sanded down primed and painted the little lip on the bottom of the qrt
went with black to keep the flow of the wheel lips

then cleaned up and threw a fresh coat up flat black on the cheeseman bumper

as i wait for that to dry and put on one more coat i decided to go out and move a few hundred pounds of snow flakes

may get this on tonight but not sure i may have to go over to a friends house tonight so we will see. weds if not tonight

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

get that bumper on that thing! I hope it lines up for ya...it may need a little persuasion or holes hogged out..... that 93 was a bit worked over :D

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

one step farther away from winterfest....no rear tow point!

couple of "screw that bolt im grabbing the cutter" later and some assistance from Rew and a BFH. and i got the cheesman bumper on

still have to reinstall the hitch and gas tank skid plate.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

cut to fit bumper

sams new avatar in 3...2...

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

did you have to cut some off the little box under the tail lights to get the hatch to shut? Since it came off a 93, the tail lights were wider...never thought about that.
