Before I start little background this my first one ton cherokee, first time making a link suspesion and learnging as I go. Also building on a college kids budget AKA little to nothing most of this was funded by parting my old rig and plowing snow this winter... anyways enough BS....

To start I Had an entire Renix drivetrain harness and all that good stuff so I'm using what I got to save some cash.

I Had a 95 roller at work that I used for the shell seemed to be pretty solid and all the panels were pretty clean and straight.

Found myself a 79 ford 60 front on craigslist for $500 locally it was disassembled and boxed up and in great shape

Also found a rear 60 on craiglist for $100 dana 60 isu 35 spline semi float out of a 2000 e250 with the factory disc brakes

Got mid stiffiners from HD offroad engineering and some fronts from timmy at LII cleaned up the uni rails and went to work

Found some H2s with 36" iroks on the for $300 the iroks are on the worn side but great for mockup

Started cleaning up the housing

Decided to go with a Mid arm 3 link as It seems to be a simple setup that works well for sam so i copied

Then began to setup my coil buckets and link mounts setup the coil perches even with the axle for about 2" of stretch

Rolled the axle under with stock coils to see how it sat

mocked up the rear

Finally got the drivetrain in and the Front stiffners on

Also made up the lower links out for some 2x2 .250 wall box steel using 1.25" trail grear creeper joints on the lowers

Welded up the rear perches and rolled it outside

Really liking the low ride height

Tacked on the track bar mounts to check to see what the angles looked like against the steering looks pretty good to me

Also made up a tie rod 7/8x3/4 Ruff stuff heims 1.75 .250 wall DOM wish i wouldve went 1.5 .250 wall but oh well

My welds probably dont compare to half you guys but i dont think they look to bad

Ended up getting a set of 4.5" clayton coils which were wayyy to tall so I grabbed a set of cut 3" krustys coils from my buddy and it sits mintt

Got some 5:38s for it from Randys Ring & Pinion and brought it to my buddys to have him install the gears for me

Measured for shocks while i had access to the lift.. It droops out fairly well and gets less pinion dive then I thought it would... Still may have to move my upper link mount though..

Track bar clearence at full stuff

Few more shots at ride height

I got it running today and unfortunaly it mustve sucked up some sludge in the pickup sounds like a cummins and the valve train is gettin no oil..

For now going to finish up the brakes get some shocks make a draglink and finish a few other things then worry about the motor... I think im just going to run some atf through it and try to flush it out.. If that dont work im gunna run it till it blows and get another motor..... So thats where i stand thoughts questions comments all appreciated.

now that you have a build thread we can make fun of you.

finish building this pos.

that was pretty much the point Ive been way to lazy and need motivation..

I'm diggin the low ride height

Thanks man I think it sits perfect should have enough belly clearence yet still have a low enough COG

Got a motor lined up for this thing thanks to my buddy trevor thats puttingg an h.o in his manche... Going to hopefully finish up my steering tommorow

good disclaimer

this means if people make fun of your build you can just blame it on that!

PSHHH... like Sam knows WTF he is doing :D

looks great man. you just gonna run the H2 wheels and snag new tires or?...

WOW thats a terrible pic... will get a better one with a real camera... Track bar and steering angle are extremely close so Im happy

better shot of the steering

Also painted the links and steering hammered grey looks mintttt. I let everything dry last night going to assemble the links today and get the axle back under the truck for good then Im going to pull the rear and do the same to all that.

Everythings back together and lookin putryyy

So i slapped an oil pump in this thing and its sounding much better... tommorow im going to finish the exhaust and get this thing stoppin! front got all new brakes pads rotors calipers rear is just gettin pads... Plan is to drive this thing tommorow!

my new lower link brackets are just about 1" further back then yours, how do you like em there? i was worried about what teh angel would be, but yours looks killer!

whyd ya opt for square stock?

I was just gunna update this thread!

Im still yet to wheel this thing but the control arm angle is spot on nice and flat for the height im running. The truck has cut 3" coils and Id guess the axle nets at least 2" of lift so sitting around 4" or so. I went square stock because of the price, 2x2x1/4 sqaure was about $5 a ft where 2".250 wall dom was $15+/ft So it was all a price decision there.

As for an update Ive got a high volume pump in this motor now making great oil pressure. Also finished up the brake system everything short of banjo bolt because no one within 20 miles stocks them. Its running but running very rich so i need to find the cause of that.. Bascially it should be wheelable withing the next week or so I hope!
