Found a Canadian who's reproducing all kinds of vinyl decals for cars and trucks. He has an Ebay business called "prop_kulture"
Contact: email: [email protected] phone: 226.791.2160 or search for him on Ebay.
Kinda putting the cart before the horse by getting a stripe kit for a truck that isn't close to being ready for paint yet....but for the race MJ, I wanted to do the sportruck hockey stick stripes like these:
Asked if they could be modified a bit......
He also makes the early Eliminator stripe and emblem kits. Got a kit for the '90 I have future plans for, just in case he quits making them in the near future. He sent extra bits of the kit which is cool, in case I goof something up. The kits come with the "Jeep" letters for the tail gates too. CHEAP considering what ya get and shipped from the great white north.... Eliminator kit was $49, the RaceTruck kit was $79.
Got busy today building MJ trailer #4. This one is for JohnJohn to pull behind his kid's TJ. Don't fret....that trailer tongue looks longer than it really is.... I musta had the camera set on the Gene Simmons setting....lol
I should have built all the previous trailers ON my flatbed..... Sure makes it easy to strap it down and level things out..... And easier on my back.....
The sickness continues....... Just threw down $280 (purchase and shipping) for another pair of uber-rare dually fenders..... 'cause I needed 'em. No really.....
A ComancheClub guy was kind enough to go grab them off a truck found in a UPAP in Cleveland.
Rather than pay the retarded fees associated with this new form of UPS and FedEx robbery called "Dimensional weight", I tossed an ad up in the Youngstown Ohio Craigslist Ride-Share listings. A youngster moving from there to Denver was kind enough to give them a ride for a respectable fee for his troubles and fuel. Worked out very well!
The other set
Interesting thing is...... they look the same, but the dark blue ones are heavier, seem to have more layers of fiberglass and they have a lip in the wheel opening where the red ones do not. The dark blue ones feel much sturdier. Unfortunately, the dark blue ones have some fairly significant cracking to the gel coat. Not sure which of the pairs will be the ones used on my truck - depends on the advice I get from someone with fiberglass experience. The red ones have cracks/tears in the fiberglass and bits broken off that need repaired/built back up at the edges. I like the wheel opening lip of the dark blue ones. Seems to add rigidity.
Swedish MJ on C303 Portal axles with a working Central Tire Inflation System. 30psi to 0 to 30psi in 3 minutes - all 4 tires simultaneously.......... awesome.
Here is without a doubt the rarest MJ ever built. Many of you know, the production of MJ's stopped after June '92.
I present to you, what's reported to be and soon to be confirmed via VIN query through Jeep, a '93 Comanche. How so? It was built at the Jeep factory in Valenzuela...... and it's the ONLY one ever made.
Why? It was built to offer an option to compete with the asian Toyotas and Nissans that were being shipped to Africa in 4-door cab form and easily outselling the Comanche. This is a prototype of sorts that failed and soon after, the MJ was no longer being built in Valenzuela.
Some will find it unappealing to the eye...... and I kinda agree. But the rarity has me giddy.
You may note that the bed has been moved forward a couple inches (wheel no longer centered in the wheel arch) and the front bed panel has been moved back against the wheel wells. The cab is open to the back seats. Also the later added amber lights when equipment laws changed later in this MJ's life.
Anyway, interesting and cool. It's new owner found it advertised on one of the Canary Islands and had it shipped to him in England where it will enjoy collector vehicle status. That's all original paint - it's only got 60K miles on it..... Oh and it's a short bed Metric Ton..... never offered in the States.
