My buddy Terry and his son Jared are mostly finished with their father/son project MJ and took it for it's first drive yesterday. I traded them this truck for the longbed they had (which is now owned and being resto/modded by Jeremy "collkid") so I figured I'd post up some details and specs:
It's a '90 2wd truck that I brought back from Minden Nebraska. The truck had been stripped of it's 4cyl/5speed drivetrain by the prev. owner in preparation to become a V8 drag truck..... sadly he never got there with it and sold it to me having only added a manual steering box and manual brakes.
Terry and Jared deciced to upgrade the truck to a 4.0/5 speed and used a '95 Cherokee Country 4x4 as the donor. From that XJ they took the entire electrical system, AC system, dash, air bag steering column, seats and door panels, trim and other bits and pieces. The project was fairly "bolt in" until they got to the fuel system and electrical from the cab-back. There was a little bit of head scratching to get the XJ tail light system to work with the MJ light set up, and then going from a 4cyl MJ short bed gas tank and fuel system to an MJ 4.0 short bed gas tank and fuel system was fairly frustrating until they got it figured out.
What they ended up with is a real nice driver that now has 4.0 HO power, OBD1 system, A/C, and 4x4..... oh and a D44 rear thrown in for good measure.
Future plans are for 31's and 2" lift and eventually fix the bed damage and paint it. Until then, Jared will be using it as his driver to & from school and for his lawn mowing business. Dad will use it as a parts runner from time to time when they both aren't resto-modding Jared's '65 Mustang.
