the damned truth. I'd rather drive the MJ or the 5ton with my 5 speeds than anything with an automatic no matter how janky they are.

Went a couple weeks without driving red jeep and I swear, I stomped on the brakes by accident trying to hit the clutch at least 6 times driving it to Worcester and back.

Driving a stick is kick ass. I have an auto in my xj and it get boring driving it compared to my dads 91 5spd with4.10s! I think if and when my auto trans goes out I'll be converting my 98 to standard.

Overdue for an update here.

Wheeled it at Rocktoberfest and everything worked well, except I broke the headerpanel off

Also let my buddy wheel it (Dundy) after his XJ shit the bed on the way down. He's not shy

So I've been procrastinating long enough, and I need to get on with the cage. When opposing tires/axles are flexed out, the roof pops in and out . Overall plan is something like this, gotta love MS paint.

Ordered about 190' of tubing because I knew I would mess some of it up, and built a gottrikes bender like everyone and their mother.

I've never used a bender before, or bent tube period, so I started with something easy like getting some tube over the rear wheel wells. Did both today, and will burn them in tomorrow.

Hard to see, but the tube is recessed into the wheelwell a bit, so I can weld the bedside to it. Ignore the dented back of the bed

Also going to add door bars and turn these doors into skins for those. Not sure how I'm going to tie the front together.

And finally, stay tuned for a drivetrain swap to happen early next year :D

where did you get your lower bumpstops? Are they made out of some type of plastic? I was gonna pull my coils and install hockey pucks, but I am worried that they will disintegrate.

Bent up the passenger side a-pillar today. Probably about 6-7 bends in it (forget) since I played with the direction a couple times to try and match the body lines as close as possible.

Bending it up.

Probably gonna use a come-along or ratchet strap to suck the bottom inwards.

Not bad for having no idea what I'm doing.

Tomorrow I'll try for the b-pillar and the tube along the top of the bedside.

Not sure where I should make the a-pillar drop down to the wheelwell? Middle or front?

id run it like bills to some sort of grill hoop, also you gonna run somthing across the top of the roof?

Ya I'll have a grill hoop up front.

Yup, one across the top of windshield, one at the rear of the cab, and then some triangulation.

Gonna have to bend them down towards the outside of the cab to meet the a-pillar.

How are you supposed to close the door with that there? How do you plan on doing the triangulation on top of the cab, or are you planning on going over the top with bends going down to those bars? Seems like you should have made it taller.
